I hate seeing half empty arenas.

My guess is Seattle, and probably Quebec City. However, they could get some serious money if they would expand a second franchise in the Toronto area.

Definitely going to be tight, but they have over 15M to play with. A lot will depend on what an RFA like Sutter is going to get. And maybe an older player like Orpik takes a comparable deal to what he has now.
With the scarcity of available all around defenseman , I'd think long and hard about it.

- MJL

they also need to at some point let these younger guys step up, and hopefully use the benefit of an ELC or two to be able to afford forward depth.

sutters deal will be an interesting one. i actually really like him in his role, despite the lack of current numbers.

they definitely have some decisions to make for sure. for better or worse, i dont see them trading letang. questions will need to be answered about both orpik and niskanen though, and subsequently, despres.

I don't know where they're going to be. But the expansion fees are big. And if I'm not mistaken, the players don't get any of it.

Do you think Zatkoff is the backup next year?

who knows at this rate. i dont even know if he will be the backup going into the postseason. supposedly vokoun is starting to move again. zatkoff has been decent at times, but it is a little shaky knowing he is the only line of defense between the team and a MAF meltdown.

i do think at least one of orpik or niskanen leaves. not likely, but potentially both may move on.

Is there anything more riveting than a 1-0 Devils game?

I like McKinnon, but I believe they will regret passing on Jones.

That draft has lived up to its billing so far. McKinnon, Barkov, Jones, Monahan all look like absolute studs. Drouin is averaging over 2 points per game in juniors too.

At least they won in OT. Devils have an absurd amount of OT/SO losses

its gonna be weird potentially having the flyers without timonen, and the pens without orpik.

Hopefully, it works out for us. He still looks like he's at least another year away from the NHL.

I don't think he'll even be getting a tryout until 2016

He won't be. He is a combination of Coburn and L. Schenn. He's physical and plays with an edge, but can skate pretty well. He has shutdown defenseman potential. He makes a decent first pass out of the zone, but can't be relied upon to make too many stretch passes.
