I can offer the same data you are. It all involves context. Any advanced stat can used to serve an agenda. Any and all data has to interpreted. It's not black and white. You're accusing me of only offering opinion when that's all that you have done. The advanced stats that you offer don't definitively state what your opinion says they do. It's that simple. Same as the eye test. I've seen posts made blaming Grossmann for a breakdown time and time again, that is innacurate.

The stats offered measure possession of the puck, which is important if you want to win hockey games. Those stats are not opinion. They have been compiled using NHL provided game statistics. They show that when Grossmann is on the ice, the Flyers face a shot attempt differential of 2.5 to 1 over 50 games.

They do not tell the whole story, and nobody has said they do. However, they are data. You provide nothing except your opinion. Go ahead and try to spin the stat that shows Grossmann's presence on the ice negatively affecting every single other member of the team's possession numbers.

You would, but why has Gustafsson played so sparingly, despite the overall positive uptick in the Flyers possession numbers when he is dressed? Why dress Rosehill? Why force Lecavalier on the third line and keep Downie away from Couturier and Read when they are so effective as a line?

Some of it boils down to the coach's bias and own opinions. And honestly, outside of the revolving door on the third pair, Berube's really kind of left the defensemen alone. Perhaps he is more comfortable allowing Paddock or Lappy to handle it.
