Anyone from San Jose grab your attention? They're the team with exactly one year left to try to make a run and may break the prospect bank this season; Callahan would maybe fix how soff they are. |

i'd love hertl. maybe he's more expendable now that they have thornton locked up for 3 more years? with thornton - couture - pavelski down the middle, doesn't seem like there's much room for hertl in his natural position. |

I wonder if they would for a UFA though. I'm skeptical. Perhaps if they feel like they can sign him to a 4-5 year deal; apparently permission has been granted to approach Callahan's agent. |

"IGINLA TO THE PENGUINS OFFICIAL". - Johnny Wrath
Let's be fair here, literally every reporter aside from Bob McKenzie reported the Boston deal as done. I mean, Chiarelli even had to hold a press conference to explain how it fell apart. |

Highly, highly doubtful. San Jose's success has been tied deeply to having young players come in and replace the vets (a process very clearly visible the last 2 years) and trading him for Callahan would be completely contrary to their strategy in this regard. Besides it's always easier to convert a center to a winger than vise versa. |

It's all I have left to smile about after what happened to Pittsburgh in that season's playoffs |

I really don't know what Calgary can get in a trade with Pittsburgh. Consider that Pittsburgh didn't trade a player as good as Maatta for Ig. Despres is probably the best young defender PIT is shopping unless Shero wants to do something much bigger. - Johnny Wrath
On the other hand that was a situation where Calgary had pretty much zero leverage with an awful GM to boot.
Though I don't know if Pittsburgh's that great a fit for Calgary's limited pieces to begin with so you're probably right. |

I really wish Kipper would have allowed himself to be traded. Classic case of how organizations should never give players leverage. |

It's unclear whether there was a handshake deal with the prior regime that he would not play the last year but there probably was. However, he had a dicey domestic situation as well. Either way I didn't hold it against him because I was pretty doubtful the return from Toronto would have been much.
Bottom line the main (frank) up was waiting 1-2 years too long to trade Iggy and Kipper, not the behaviour of the players. |

Quite right. I thought the Penguins should have acquired Kip and maybe Giordano, not Iginla. |

Giordano would have been much, much tougher. Even now I think you'd have to really bowl Burke over to have him consider it.
Looking at Kipper's abysmal sv% that last year I don't know if he would have been an improvement over Fleury in last year's playoffs. |

I think Miikka was pretty much checked out. He had been so consistent.
Giordano is either going to finish his contract with Calgary or turn into three good roster players in the next few seasons.
Pittsburgh needed more than just a goaltending upgrade last year; it would have helped. Maybe they'll acquire Backstrom out of Minny for backup or for when Fleury sets NHL history by recording the NHL's first wild-card upset. |

CHristopher Colubus wouldnt make that deal..The Jackets are good right now, and wait until the Fruits of their last few drafts ake it there..That team has a chance to be special if they groom all these studs well.. |

Hertl is DW's lover. He will not trade him. I doubt DW would trade him for Crosby |

We used to say that about Michel Therrien and Danny Sabourin. And Michel Oulette. If only there was a French expression for that... |
