When trading for a player at this point in the season, you're only taking on the remainder of his salary for the season. So, you're not taking on his 5 million cap hit, but only what is left on it from the day you aquire him to the last game of the season. Like somewhere around 2 million i would say. (roughly)

I could have explained it better, but it's bed time, so I hope you got the crux of what I was trying to convey.

- systemtool
I realize that but the Hawks have players on LTIR so it still would not work. They do not have the cap space without sending a roster player the other way.

Is an Edmonton fan really laughing at the Leafs?
- Aetherial

I know I've seen my team win 5 cups in my lifetime. How many have you seen? I guess its a little bit tougher since the league went to a system with more than 6 teams. A Toronto has no leg to stand on talking about poop teams

He would, except he is making 5.5 this year with a 5mil cap hit. Who is going the other way from the Hawks to make this deal? The Hawks do not have the cap space to take Hemsky on without dumping a higher priced roster player. Not going to happen!

- PaulNewman

The hawks dump players all the time. After each cup they got rid of players like oh I don't know, Ladd, Versteeg, Buff, Niemi, Cambell, Eager, and so on. Not saying the cap is not an issue, but the hawks are good at finding a way.

Im not quite sure he understands what's going, even after it was explained to him. Have good night, you glorious (and in some cases delusional) hockey fans!

On Girardi...

In a similar, but less crazy way, I still question if the Rangers are really willing to trade Girardi and a source today texted me that the Bruins made "quite a gesture leading me to believe the Rangers are either close to re-signing Girardi, close to dealing him elsewhere, or not interested in moving him at all.

Wow, great insight.

All I know is that if I can't get more than a 3rd for Hemsky then we aren't trading him at all and we'll either overpay him or lose him for nothing. That'll show you bastards!!

I hear you on that, but this year it just will not happen without another player going the other way. They made there big splash already this year with getting Versteeg back and a steal for that matter. Anything else the Hawks do this season will be small if at all.
Unless there is a big time roster player going the other way. Don't think that is going to happen! At least this year.

This guy is epic. I really wish it wasn't so late so I could witness the rest of his meltdown.
- systemtool

Meltdown? I'm just sick of Leaf fans talking poop to Edmonton fans thinking they're so much better than us because of their great 1st round knockout last year. And yes that includes fake Leafs with Leaf logos as their avi's

Well detroit would make sense for hemsky. But the hawks would not surprise me. Hemmer's value is stupid low right now. Third rd pick gets you a guy who still has elite hands and great foot speed.

They're probably talking poop to you because they kept hearing how awesome the Oilers were gonna be in a couple of years......back in 2009. Hell I remember seeing 4 Oilers pencilled in for Team Canada earlier this season.

Really? plz tell if their is supose to be another option than this when you are dealing with a player. Basically you are saying: "Hey guys i have a scoop! They wont move him, or they will. They wont resign him, or they will"... Thx for all that B-Sh*t.

Personally I don't want hemsky at all, but especially for Dekeyser. You can have quincey?
- digitalbath

sure, mact can just bring in another ufa for a somewhat tryout basis.

andersson and quincey for hemsky and larsen.

Would like the Hawks to get him, but it would cost too much this year. Only way would be Bickell for Hemsky. Even though Bickell has been bad this year, he had a hell of a playoff last year and could be the Buff of previous years. Really bad during the regular season but lights out in the playoffs. Don't think the Hawks can take that chance this year to deal him.

Umm that was my sarcasm. I don't want hemsky at all but if you really want a deal you can have our mediocre underperformer who's not coming back next year and we'll take yours

CHI: Hemsky
EDM: Kostka, 6th round pick

Not what 'I' want but I could see this happening since there is an apparent trend in MacT going after marlie/ex-marlie players to play under Eakins.

So he may be traded, or not traded, or not resigned?

Way to cover your ass on that one.

You mean like the discounts Phaneuf and Kessel took to stay in toronto? And ps the maple leafs and oilers have made the playoffs the same amount of times in the last 8 years.
- Ihatebrianburke

and once again another dolt fooled by golfingsince1967, a nucks fan and NOT a leafs fan.

also the whole we havent made the playoff thing is kinda silly. Leafs missed 7 straight times, made it last year, 4th in the conference this year. Oilers will miss it for the 8th straight this year, and are probably gonna be well over 10+

MacT isn't that dumb. But aren't you guys gonna love those Clarkson and Phaneuf deals in a 3-4 years
- JasonDh

in 3-4 years the oilers will finish at the bottom 3-4 more times, we'll love that

Your local meteorologist here with the local weather report. For tonight, expect more cloudy skies coming your way with lows in the 20's.

Tomorrow's forecast looks like it may rain, it may snow, or it may do neither.

Back to you guys in the studio.

Hawks have no interest in a 5 million $$ winger in Hemsky
Winnipeg after beating Vancouver is only 6 points out of. Playoff spot so doubt they will be selling yet

Maybe Vancouver needs to be a seller as they look brutal lately

You do realize the guy your yapping with isn't a Leafs fan right?
And at least the Leafs have a competitive team finally and is looking up...can the same be said about the Oil?
Remember when Oilers fans thought Hemsky would get a 1st and a prospect?

Honestly because this makes no sense, I fully believe this was copied and pasted from a draft where he hadn't decided which rumor to put out yet.

Great. Buff. Yeah, he can hit, and shoot, but that is all you get. We have enough big, and slow guys. Now we get one that doesn't have any hockey sense; to pinch or not to pinch, or to turn over the puck or not turn over the puck. I really don't see how he helps. Teams still can't decide if he is a D-man or an O-man. Nobody knows how to use him. Chicago gave up, and now the Jets may give up. Do we really need another problem child? Maybe if he can gain a few pounds, we could put him in goal. He would be so big that no pucks could get past him. Don't worry, he will be like Jaba, and just sit there. He wouldn't have to move at all...lol.
Get over it Homer, and stop sniffing around Buff. Nothing is out there right now, and you might as well wait until the playoff teams start looking for rent-a-players if you want to conduct a trade.
