I think that moving Yakapov for Alexi Emellin and Montreal's first, sounds about right. Habs get another smaller, scoring winger, that's familiar, playing with Alex Galchenyuk when they where linemates in junior. Oilers get another 1st rounder and a hard hitting defender that can play in their top 4. |

Too many negatives :p Look at the bright side of Fraser, if he gets some chemistry with a linemate and does his job, good, coz he is a big piece of nasty that the oilers need. He can throw guys to the ice that are lingering around the net.
I wonder how many attempts at shot blocks Fraser will make after that brutal puck in the head.
Let's hope he turns things around, I'd rather see the guy flourish instead of fade. |

You and Zeropotatoes need some new material.
Have you ever even been in a meeting in a boardroom or upscale office that did not involve a judge and a probation officer? Didn't think so.
Have fun in your basements... I will be in NJ. - JLO961

Personally if we wanted a tough Dman, why did we trade Smid? He was at the time the grittiest guy we had and we really did trade him two nobodies who have the potential to be worse than they are now. If Regher was worth 2 x 2nd round picks at last years trade deadline, holding Smid till this one should have in theory got us a larger return with the cap going up. In theory.
I do agree we did trade nothing but we got nothing back. To put this guy on our NHL roster with the number of 6/7 guys we have now would be an insult to our already terrible blue line. We need to part ways with these guys at the deadline, not collect them right before it. If Redden had value last year that should mean that we have a chance at getting some for Nick, Potter and Larsen.
I personally like Larsen but with our D next year looking like:
1-2 pick up - Petry
Ference - Justin
Marincin - then one of Oscar, Fedun, Nurse (as a long shot) or another veteran dman added with talent.
We might as well get the most for these guys and strengthen where we can. Grab prospects and picks and then trade those before the draft for UFA's that are willing to sign with us instead of testing the market. Players that aren't happy with their teams. Maybe a good way to grab a goalie unless Scrivens keeps this up and comes out of no where like Kipper did years ago or to get that one two dman. If we don't have first overall pick, we might as well package it for a big name dman. We need another 6'0 18 year old like we need another 1980's Oiler in management. |
