I remember the series between OKC and the Marlies two years ago, Hartikainen was a player who really stood out for me, but that was AHL hockey. Can he be a decent 4th liner? I doubt he ever suits up for Toronto, I'm just curious if he'll be useful if he does?

TSN Radio reports Toronto Maple #Leafs forward Nikolai Kulemin‘s name is out there as trade bait, although he’s probably not being shopped

- Mapleleafs_91

makes sense to put it out there.. see what his value is.. then let him go to the olympics, hopefully have a good one.. and come back worth even more

then move him at the real deadline

Fraser+Scrivens for Reimer+Kulemin? only fair, we need to upgrade our goalies, we need that 59 saves

Just heard about Fraser, the perfect #6 D-Man for us last year before his career ending shot block.....

Good luck in EDM, hope he gets to play more.

I think he's doing a fine job as a 4th line winger - getting the puck in the opposing zone and mucking around in the corners and letting his face get punched as needed. What are you expecting of him?

In 3 minutes of ice time no less. Guy rips it up in the AHL, gets rewarded with Colton Orr.

I still believe the pens are best trading partners as he would fit with malkin on that line and that is basically the piece the pens need to fill on the wing along with neal.

Despres and Pouliot would seem like good targets for the leafs even if they had to add for Pouliot

I hate that the Leafs brought him up at 20 and fed him to the wolves. Now because two years have past he's written off as a scrub getting 3 minutes a night. A 22 year olds hockey career is essentially over in the eyes of Leaf Nation....to me I've seen him make some smart hardworking players. He reminds me a lot of Chad Kilger, a guy you can rely on in a 4th line role. Stick him with a Maroon and D'Amigo and you'd have a 4th line thats effective. I don't care if he scores goals, its as you say bolded above.

He's a decent body, but I was more impressed with D'Amigo and wish the Leafs kept him up instead of Ashton.

Pretty sure they're the same age. '91 YOB if im not mistaken. I remember them being in the same draft, but D'Amigo was a 4th rounder and Ashton was 1st. Or I could be wrong about all of this

Ok, be technical, Ashton's 3 months younger. Just saying that his whole call up years ago (because Burkey had to show off his new toy) changes how most see him.

I don't mind Ashton, but im not overly impressed with him any more than I am with Bodie or D'amigo, to be honest.

All three, IMO, are far more useful than our goons who everyone is scared of or chooses to no longer engage. I don't even blame Orr or McLaren. People know it helped the Leafs succeed last year and are trying to eliminate that edge Toronto would get from the goonery. But it's time our team evolved into what works today and not last year.

Just looked it up. D'Amigo was a 6th round pick. Same age, same draft. Any reason this is a funny fact?
- systemtool

How one guy has been totally written off at such a young age but has accomplished more than the other guys at the AHL level this season. He has only played 14 gp but is 3rd on the Marlies in goals. He's played 12 less games than D'Amigo but has 5 more points.

We have many tough guys who can fight now, dont always need orr and mclaren.

Ashton 3pts in 30 games

Damigo 2 pts in 19 games

Bodie 6 pts in 21 games

Smith 9 pts in 25 games

Leivo 2 pts in 7 games

holland 10 pts in 31 games

Mckegg will be added to the list to see what he does hopefuly

Havent followed or watched the Marlies at all this year, to be honest. I was just going off the sample sizes we have seen with the big team this year. Though I think we can all agree that both could play on our 4th line over our goons, for the time being until something changes, if it changes.

Huh...thats funny because D'Amigo has more goals and only one less point in the NHL and Ashton has played 11 more games...I could not give 2 poops who has more AHL points, D'Amigo has played better and been more valubule IMO when he has the chance to play with TOR.

sorry, I thought you worked for TTC

maybe I'm a bit mixed up

- Garnie

No worries. Not too mixed up.

It's the wife that works for TTC, and she drives a streetcar.

She did drive a bus for Edmonton Transit though.
