Yup, he's from the region of the terrorist sects going after Sochi.

Both things are facts. Pretty sure he didn't fake his ethnicity lol.
- sanfordnson

He's an ethnic Tatar - that's a fact.

He's an ethnic Tatar, so he would be reluctant to play in the KHL - that's speculation

Don't worry - I'll keep working with you until you get it.

I said it was a factor, which it is. Nail referenced it himself once. If you would like something unrelated to the point you've chosen to fixate on however, he moved his entire family over here as well. I'm sure that means nothing though.
- sanfordnson

So let me get this straight:

His Tartar ethnicity is a factor that you demand we accept when considering if he would ever consider the KHL.

But the following facts should not be considered factors:

- he grew up in Russia
- he lives in his coach's doghouse
- the Oilers currently suck
- his current contract ends at the end of next season
- his next contract will be negotiated under a restrictive CBA, which will prevent him from earning mega-bucks
- the KHL has no salary cap
- his salary in the KHL would be tax-free

Any chance that you are only looking at this from an Edmonton Oiler fan perspective?

Any chance at all?

Go make me a sandwich.

Yup, and when the Soilers are looking to sign Yak to a bridge deal because he hasn't EARNED a "big contract" yet, while a KHL team is offering him $5M+ a season long term... I'm sure that also means nothing though.

Why do you guys always resort to the whole condescension act all the time? I've never said it categorically won't happen. I merely pointed out two mitigating factors that make it less likely, and Im right. If you choose not to agree, not my problem. If he bolts, I'll happily (sulkily) admit I was wrong. Until it actually happens, it's ridiculous to continue speculating.

I don't lose much sleep over things I can't control.

He's been in NA since he was 16... Stated over and over he wants to play in the best league in the world.

If he runs away... Oh well

He would refuse any KHL offer because his dad (pictured below) would disapprove.

Last night you were saying that there was no risk - that there was no way he would play in the KHL. You said it wasn't a factor.

Sorry, Charlie.

It's very simple. When you claim speculation as fact you deserve to be patronized.

I wonder how hard you'll be on Mac if he struggles in his sophomore year....

- robin_steele264

Has he slid all the way down the ice on his knees after scoring a goal ... as if he just single-handedly won the all time hockey championship of the universe?

Pretty words and a nice picture. The entire KHL flight risk thing with Nail is what it is: complete supposition, almost always brought up by other teams fans. You guys have fun with that. If he does, hey you were right. If he doesn't hey, I was right. Life goes on. Kum-bay-yah.
- sanfordnson

The Oiler fanbase is also in "deNail" about this is as a possible scenario.

Last 3 seasons, and a much neater and accurate comparison:

Kulemin 162 games, 22 goals, 45 assists, 67 points

Clarkson 164 games, 48 goals, 30 assists, 78 points

I'll take the guy who scores more and fights on occasion than a guy who can't score but can PK, and not all that well either.

- systemtool

Clarkson all day.

As I stated last night all the hate is getting a little out of hand and most of you are going to be eating crow regarding Clarkson.

Mogilny: 1 Rocket Richard award (you know what I mean).

Twice named to the NHL second all-star team. Never the first.

He won't get the nod to the HHOF.

I'm just puzzled why you think the guy could step into a time machine, come back this season and outscore Ovi by 50%.

That Teemu guy looks like a big body. Sounds like he would mesh well with Komorav WHEN he returns next year.

Harti is a good prospect...but he definately leaves you wanting more. I like him though, hopefully he has a solid NHL career if comes back.
