I rather not see Orr and actually play an NHL fourth line. - mykokes
I concur with this. Their (McLaren too) effectiveness hasn't carried over into this season, mostly due to the refs clamping down and their opponents refusing to engage in fisticuffs and allowing the Leafs to feed off that energy like they did last year. |

Hey guys - am I too late to compare the effectiveness of 4th liners based on who averages 0.000003 PPG and who averages 0.0000034 PPG? |

Again, why is Ashton less interesting than McKegg? - mykokes
Ashton is pretty much proven to be totally fk'n useless...McKegg hasn't proven his uselessness yet... |

Based on what? Leivo I can see it, but why is Ashton just Ashton? Is it because they had better junior careers? If that's the criteria, than I guess Michal Repik should've been a better NHLer than Milan Lucic. I know that's an extreme example, but why do we write of Ashton? I'll tell you why, because of the stupid decision to use him as a 20 year old. This year aside from getting his face punched in, what exactly has he done wrong? And can you really write off a guy based on getting the poopty assignment of 6 minutes with Orr? - mykokes
Because what ashton is described to be about does not justify what he brings to the table in the NHL. Bodie works harder and does a better job, alot of people would agree to that statement. Even if he is on the 4th line with Orr and mcclement, he is lucky to even have a roster spot on the team while our lineups are congested enough, you have to make the most of the time given during games, even if its a small sample. |

They go hand in hand though. If you want them to play more, shouldn't you be concerned with the guys you're giving those minutes too? Are you fine with playing Orr more or would you rather see Ashton/D'Amigo play more? - systemtool
Probably Ashton and D'amigo.
I dont really care if the fourth line scores. I just want them to play well defensively, and do what ever they can to wear down the opposition.
As far as playing time. I understand that in a close game they arent going to be used often. But why arent they being played in games like yesterday against Florida when we are up by 3? Give them some minutes near the end of the game to save the other guys.

That's the thing. People think it's a hate on for Ashton as opposed to giving guys who have worked harder than him a bit more credit. Nips was right. All these guys are a dime a dozen and pretty interchangeable. If we want to be fair about all this, Bodie has earned the most clout. |

Both ashton and damigo have played also on the 3rd line with the lineup switches and etc during games, still haven't fully taken advantage of that. They are a dime a dozen, thats why sometimes its good for a change once in a while. You gave 30 games to ashton, okay so give some games now to a guy like leivo or mckegg let them have a go. Same as damigo had about 20 games, let others have a try |

I was going to suggest evaluating effectiveness based on corsi, where is Yost when you need him |

Believe it or not, he's going ga-ga over Clarke Macs career year, without understanding it's a career year, and leading the parade to signing him long term.
Pretty Ironic that all we did was battle for 8th with Mac on our team (aside from last year and we benched him for half our playoff games), which is what they're doing right now. |

Young kids like to prove themselves and those who have not played may be motivated for a call up, its just what they do to prepare and make the best of the situation given to them. |

I liked Mac better than Raymond, but not when you compare cap hits.
As for the forth line argument it wont really matter when Bolland smith and Clarkson step in next week. And I don't think Mckegg is going to get called up to play the forth line |

Well for tomorrows game, it will probably be:
JVR Boz Kess
Lupul Kadri Kul
Raymond Mckegg Ashton
Bodie Mcclement Orr
With bolland, smith still out i think clarkson is still out right? or can he comeback? |

I miss the old school FF games where you had 3-4 charactors to battle with and some reserves to rotate. The last best FF, turn based, was the one with Cloud, Strife, Barrett, Tifa etc. - systemtool
Dude!!! FFX is finally coming out next month remastered for the PS3!!!!!
Tidus, Yuna, Auron, Wakka, et al. return after 13 years!!! I will master the Jecht-shot this time.
