Gagne will always be my fave -- being same age and all. Renberg was my fave out of the Legion. Brindy was my fave prior to Gagne getting drafted. I was a big fan of Justin Williams, too. Ofc... Mike Richards

These days, I'd have to say Simmer is my #1, with G not far behind.

Don't know if its a sign of the times, but after Timonen likely departs next season I don't really know who would be my favourite.

Same like you I suppose, Giroux and Simmonds but not on the same level as some of the other guys in the past.

Yakupov shoots right - we seem to be set there on the top 6 with Simmonds and Voracek but with Hartnell sure to decline given his style of play and age, we also need a good young skilled left winger who would be a threat in his own right. I am a big fan of Raffl but he is hardly someone who can make a top line elite.

What would it take to get Evander Kane here?

i dunno sniper doesn't come to mind when i think evander kane

I really think the clouds are shaping up for Buff to head to Philly. Almost makes too much sense. I don't agree with it, but I think its what goes down with Couturier or Brayden Schenn heading the other way.

I would really like to see a package of Buff and Kane coming this way. Schenn, Schenn, and Voracek?

So basically you go against the grain in everything. Everyone like Lindros and LeClair, so you pick Renberg and Brindy... Everyone loves Forsberg so you pick Gagne. Justine Williams is just an Odd choice... wasnt here long enough for me to develope the love....

Speed and Scoring does when I think about him. He was a scoring machine against the Flyers.

I think you would need a bit more simply because Luke Schenn cant have much value. A 3rd pairing d-man on most teams.

Kane would be really fun to watch with Giroux/Voracek, but I would still prefer to use every asset on that back end.

I'm gonna cheat on my list and include the Legion guys as one entry. It's kinda fitting because when they weren't playing with each, I'd submit they weren't as good.

1. LoD guys
2. Richards (for always seeming to provide whatever the team needed on the ice)
3.) Giroux (His game is fun to watch and it's been fun watching him grow as a player)
4.) Desjardins (if only because he was probably the most underrated blueliner of his era).
5.) Simon Gagne (Another "it was fun watching him grow up" type. His career encapsulated the eras of many of the guys on this list)
6.) Kimmo Timonen (Declining now, sure, but he was, without question, the 2nd best Flyers d-man over the last 20 years)
7.) Wayne Simmonds (hits, fights, scores. What's not to like?)
8.) Danny Briere (Playoff guy, the fist pump celebration, etc)
9.) Scott Hartnell (Yeah, you heard me. Dude's been part of some of the best lines the Flyers have had in the past 5 years. It's no coincidence. Not only that, he proved to have a sense of humor with the whole #HartnellDown thing).
10.) Jeremy Roenick

Missing the cut for not being around long enough or being too injured: Hatcher, Pronger, Foppa,

We're picking favorites... is there supposed to be a right answer or something?

(If that's the case, who the hell loves Forsberg more than Gagne??)

Interesting to have Hartnell on there. Just another guy I cant really get behind fully because he runs so damn hot and cold. When he is on, a pleasure to watch. When he is off, he wont just be a warm body, he will more than likely hurt you with stupid penalties and being poopty defensively.

Its why I am starting to warm up more to Simmonds. For the most part, even if he isn't scoring, he keeps hustling out there and doing the little things. Nice to see that growth in a player. Consistency is key.

Jets have been going bonkers under Maurice... and Buff has inadvertently lit a fire under Jokinen's butt, playing on his wing. I think the momentum for a move has pretty much abated until the summer.

Evander Kane would be a hell of an add, if they could swing it. But you'd basically need to trade them a better or equal player now, because that franchise needs to make the PO's, not wait for futures.

Hi Guys, Just wanted to give a quick update from yesterday. Thank you all for the support. Shortly after I wrote the post a co-worker came back after his shift and let me go home. My wife was shaken up a bit but eventually calmed down.

She had a biopsy in New Haven Conneticut on Monday, and the results came back as 90% chance the growths are cancerous. The good new is it is Thyroid cancer and this type of cancer has a 95% recovery rate... or so says the internet. Another set of good new is that she is seeing the best surgeron. They will have to remove the Thyroid either way, but this Dr. did the same surgery on Tipper Gore...(of course right... That would be my Liberal wife and her mother....). And she will be treated by a doctor at John Hopkins pre and post surgery.

While it still sucks, we are going to remain upbeat and optomistic. Again, thank you everyone for your well wishs. Now back to hockey...

- youarewrong

It is true that this is absolutely survivable/thrivable. I know people in their late 40s who've lived without their thyroids since their early 20s with no real issue except having to take thyroid replacement (which I do without side-effects). Good luck to her.

Speaking of warming up to people, I am kind of surprised the Flyers haven't offered an extension to Berube.

Seems a few months after bringing in a new guy they extend him quickly. Kind of torn on him myself, some good things and some bad.

Not sure if I prefer any of the other options out there. I could see Carlyle getting the boot in Toronto. Maybe Therrien in Montreal and Hartley in Calgary. Noel is brutal, and not sure how long Boucher is signed for overseas.

Nothing that impressive.

Gagne's Flyers career spanned from the tail end of the Lindros era through to the 2010 Cup run.

I don't see how a Flyers fan can talk about the last 20 years and not mention Gagne's name prominently.

Didn't they give Chief a 2 or 3 year extension soon after he took the gig?

I know they gave him something because I remember people being pissed about it.

He was signed to "a multi-year contract" when he was hired to be head coach, I can't find the exact number in our crack local media coverage from the time.

Solid list. Gotta have Primeau and Renberg in there for me. Recchi close as well. Tough to remove any of those 10, though.

I liked Recchi; I just couldn't/didn't fit him on my list.
