Yes it was a fun game to watch. Definitely 2 teams on different levels. I still think the flyers will be better in a year or two, of they can play their cards on defense correctly. They have a lot of youngins still up front.
- funmaster18

the best way they can help themselves is to find some guys on the back end that are two way players. they can't get out of their own end.

They were infuriating at times, running so hot and cold.

When they were hot though, that was some fun hockey to watch.

The cup run was great. I miss it. I think the core of this team can take us there down the road, if they can assemble the right pieces around them.

fun game to watch. flyers mistakes end up in their net. not so for their opponent. really tired of watching mishandles at the offensive blueline by our d end up as odd man rushes and goals the other way. 9th shortie last night at a crucial time in this exact situation.

i watch the ducks a decent amount - never a whole game - but enough. i don't recall seeing them be this chippy and aggressive all year. it took me all of 2 minutes to hate them last night.

- hammarby31

the ducks are one of the cheapest teams in the league with their slashes and oh Perry

Gagne is another guy I kind of miss. I think it was pretty low to dump him like they did because they couldn't manage the cap. He was a good soldier for the team, and a good community guy from what I know. That game 6 Tampa goal, and Game 7 goal to beat the Bruins. Solid player, and glad to see his name on the cup.

Any fears the flyers make a bad, headline grabbing blockbuster trade at the draft with it in their own building?

I agree that's what they need first and foremost, but where do you get that? And for what?

I think they can do it, at least the forward group. When Giroux flips that switch, he can take games over, you never let a player like that go.

He has lead this team, and carried them more than anyone ever since the trades of Carter/Richards. I'd like to see Giroux win it. He has fire, and Im a fan.

Do you guys remember how bad they always were after the all-star break.. Talking about them going to South America and partying too hard....lol. Those were the days.. when the only thing we had to argue about is who's tail Carter was chasing, What Drug Richards was doing, and how Hung over Lupul was....

I'm going to do what I never do and admit I was wrong. I pushed for a trade of JVR if it filled a team need. And at first it did and it seemed like it worked out for both teams... But I think this team could really use what JVR is bringin to Toronto now.... not what he brought to the FLyers when he was here... He got new life there...

I brought that up a couple weeks back, and this team kind of seems to be doing the same. I thought it was pre-all star break though. Who knows.

I couldn't get behind that team all the time, just because they were so inconsistent, you never knew which team would show up half of the time. When they got Pronger though, they had two warhorses on the back end. Timonen and Pronger together, was the turning point for me.

Some good memories from those years. Some of those shifts by Lappy-Betts in particular.

Hi Guys, Just wanted to give a quick update from yesterday. Thank you all for the support. Shortly after I wrote the post a co-worker came back after his shift and let me go home. My wife was shaken up a bit but eventually calmed down.

She had a biopsy in New Haven Conneticut on Monday, and the results came back as 90% chance the growths are cancerous. The good new is it is Thyroid cancer and this type of cancer has a 95% recovery rate... or so says the internet. Another set of good new is that she is seeing the best surgeron. They will have to remove the Thyroid either way, but this Dr. did the same surgery on Tipper Gore...(of course right... That would be my Liberal wife and her mother....). And she will be treated by a doctor at John Hopkins pre and post surgery.

While it still sucks, we are going to remain upbeat and optomistic. Again, thank you everyone for your well wishs. Now back to hockey...

Good to hear it's looking positive. Good luck man.

I wasn't around here when they traded for Pronger. What were the comment boards like directly after the trade?

I couldn't care less about the rumors or gossip off ice. They led the team to the cup final for the first time since 97, so, yeah.

I don't have an issue dealing JVR. I don't think too many of us were at the time really. I just think we expected better than a one dimensional, slow footed Luke Schenn.

What really irked some people, and me to a degree was they were one pick, which should have been theirs away from Kane. As good as JVR is, Kane is on another level.

I realllllyyy wanted them to hang onto JVR for 1 more year. The season before he was traded he was oft injured. I felt that by keeping him he'd either be the guy we were hoping he be or at least increase his trade value. Now we have Schenn, who at his best is a guy we could have picked up in FA, IMO. And I like schenn.

A mix. Some were very excited, and others angry at giving up the kids.

I'll stand by that trade myself though. Pronger pushed the team over the top, and without him they wouldn't have sniffed the SCF. I think most of us understood that he was probably going to decline, and effectively the window would remain open while his play remained solid.

I like the trade, even today. Never though he would be as good as he was, even in the limited time he played here. Guy did it all.

i don't think the location of the draft will influence them to do anything more ill-advised than would otherwise. but, hey, i've been wrong a million times before, so....

i have no idea where they get that. a lab?

I soured on JVR, and will be the first to admit it.

It was kind of a perfect storm, with the questions of his dedication, and the kid looking so inconsistent. Made me learn a little something I guess. More than anything I hated how he would take shifts off in his defensive duties.

Its still his biggest flaw imo, but obviously the Flyers would love to have him right now. Anyone that thinks Holmgren wouldn't go back on that trade is insane. It was a mistake, more so because of who the Flyers got back.

sounds like we could use yakupov

- 2Real

Yakupov shoots right - we seem to be set there on the top 6 with Simmonds and Voracek but with Hartnell sure to decline given his style of play and age, we also need a good young skilled left winger who would be a threat in his own right. I am a big fan of Raffl but he is hardly someone who can make a top line elite.

What would it take to get Evander Kane here?

Thanks again everyone. At the end of the day I think we are all on the same team, and it really does bring a lot of emotion out to see you guys just back one of your own up so much. This kind of support is what makes this particular forum more then just a Hockey Forum.

Now if we could just get the refs to see that.....

I really think the clouds are shaping up for Buff to head to Philly. Almost makes too much sense. I don't agree with it, but I think its what goes down with Couturier or Brayden Schenn heading the other way.

I don't see him being moved myself. Winnipeg has strength on D with Trouba and Morrissey, as the young kids ready to assume bigger roles.

Up front they are weak, and will be hard pressed to move an elite guy like Kane. I think once the magic of Maurice wears off, or more so than anything missing the playoffs for another year. They will make a move, being Byfuglien.
