What the hell happened.... I didnt see anything in the posts, but didnt read too hard. It would suck to lose a quality poster like Joe. |

Downie couldn't have made a worse read on Perry's goal, and G definitely coasted toward the end of that shortie...I'm guessing both he and Jake were spent. - wolfhounds
He was pissed.. When he is pissed he is not much of an improvement on Carcillo.
He went in trying to throw a hit, and boom the much more skilled player in Getzlaf when right by him. Soon as that happened I knew they were scoring. HORRENDOUS read. |

How does everyone feel about a Mez for Parenteau swap?
I don't know that the Avs would necessarily do it, but Parenteau is signed at 4m for two more seasons, where as Mez is a free agent this summer making a similar cap hit for just this year.
So, the money is an even swap in terms of the trade. The question becomes is PA Parenteau a guy that makes this team better? I say yes. I would play him with G and Voracek, or possibly even slide Voracek down.
That does, however, give us quite a crowded forward group. Long term, I think Hartnell would be the guy who has to go. Grabbing Parenteau also probably means Downie isn't resigned (which, quite frankly, I wouldn't be all that ecstatic to hear at the moment anyway).
So just to give a more long term idea, this is what the top 9 would look like.....

i personally wouldnt do it. I dont think we need to add more forwards. We need to focus on improving defensively.

This. ....and I'll say it again: Not enough support from the forwards coming back. When they do, one or two get caught, then their lack of team speed prevents them from erasing the mistake. One or two of those every game, and it ends up in the loss column. Homer has some serious work to......and if he signs any more aging vets or no movement clauses, then he needs to go. He's skating on some very thin ice. - Hokeeguy9
I do believe right now the issue is team speed. And in general, the management is too quick to change team building tatics... First strong defense, then needed to get bigger wingers, then needed a top goalie, then needed to get younger..ie change culture..
And this isnt one of those, "they need to leave the team alone" posts. They need to develop a team strategy and leave THAT alone. |

my first move as the new flyer gm would be to trade the Schenn Bros at the draft - vejim
For who?!?!
I had an old mentor who said, "if you have a gripe, and decide to air it out, you better put forth what you consider a workable solution, or you're fired." While not singling you out on this, it would be a much better forum here if posters would keep this in mind. Again, no offense to you.

After the season B.Schenn is having and he looks to be breaking out, the offers would pour in and Homer can pick an choose what he would want. It would be a more sizable return to open the bidding to everyone, then it would to just go straight to Winnipeg and ask for Buff or Yandle from Phoenix.... |

Forward group lacks skill and creativity IMO outside of Giroux and Jake. Gives us better balance across the top 9.
Still leaves plenty of cap to address the D as well

Brian Burke is now out in Cgy, and its no secret that he loves the Schenn brothers..
In a situation where the Schenn brothers were the focus of the trade (not suggesting this myself), and CGY was the trade partner.. maybe something like
Schenns for Baertschi and Kris Russell would be a good place to start.. |

Try Giordano and Baertschi.....and probably another player or a decent pick. Even then I'd be hesitant. |

I think I understand what he is saying though... We are stacked at Center. And putting the Schenn Bros up at the draft to everyone might get a better return then if you picked a team and asked for something... Its a sales ploy. Let them come to you and overpay, instead of going to them and asking what they would give you.... |

Vinny still has skill and creativity. What the team lacks is a sniper up front. |

Ah yes I see we're back trading Brayden Schenn.
I watched the 3rd period last night. Combine that with the commentary of Bill and other posters, I can comfortably say if the Flyers play the same game they played last night, they'll go on a whole bunch of 6-0-1 stretches.
That's something to hang their hat on against the best team in the NHL playing on their home ice.
Yes, I still believe they take 4 of 6 points in this gauntlet. They'll beat the Kings and the Sharks. Last night reaffirmed that for me. |

Downie and Raffl have had a hard enough cracking the top-9 lately... trading from a position of need just to add another player to that cluster(frank) doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
If you really want a slow, small, skilled guy, I heard Edmonton is literally giving away Sam Gagner. The contract is similar, but the difference in upside isn't even close.

Ive wanted Giordano for about 3 years now.. He is their captain and the leader of that team. Dont think they would give him up with their top up and coming scoring prospect. But I do agree that we would have to receive a pretty big package.
It better include a good two way d-man as well. |

Most overrated and overstated thing I tend to read on this board is the fact that the Flyers need a sniper.
We have 6 players with at least 12 goals on this team... |

Now this is interesting... What about Baertschi and Guedreau plus thier 1st for Schenn bros and our first... Johnny Hockey just might not resign with them, so it would be a good idea IMO. |
