jody shelley scored 2 on us in a game back then
- 2Real

The 2 most lucrative goals that he ever scored in his life, no doubt.

Flyers have had a few guys like that in recent years. Fedoruk, Boulerice, Cote, Shelley, Rosehill and kind of Newbury.

Even Eager to a lesser degree, who I remember getting thrashed by Gary Roberts.

I don't see him being moved myself. Winnipeg has strength on D with Trouba and Morrissey, as the young kids ready to assume bigger roles.

Up front they are weak, and will be hard pressed to move an elite guy like Kane. I think once the magic of Maurice wears off, or more so than anything missing the playoffs for another year. They will make a move, being Byfuglien.

Since we have Vinny, Schenn, Couts and (next year) Laughton for potential 2-3rd line center duty, I think it is very likely one of the last 3 will be moved. We are stuck with Vinny for a while sadly.

How about Couturier + 1st for Kane?

I soured on JVR, and will be the first to admit it.

It was kind of a perfect storm, with the questions of his dedication, and the kid looking so inconsistent. Made me learn a little something I guess. More than anything I hated how he would take shifts off in his defensive duties.

Its still his biggest flaw imo, but obviously the Flyers would love to have him right now. Anyone that thinks Holmgren wouldn't go back on that trade is insane. It was a mistake, more so because of who the Flyers got back.

I think it's not really fair to make conclusions just yet...Schenn loooked very good last season, especially getting big minutes down the stretch as the rest of the starters fell to injury...he's taken a step back this season, but he's still only 24, who's to say he can't find his game again and get better? It seems like some are so quick to make conclusions about young players without leaving room for changing or improving as they continue to develop...not saying Schenn will definitely be a lot better than he is now, but he was before, why not again? Is there some rule that says he can't regain that form or even better?

Gary Roberts was a tough hombre, even into his young 40's.

He's also a work out maniac and I think he offers his services as a trainer. Dude is probably in better shape as a retired player than maybe half the guys currently in the league.

5. Pavel Brendl
6. Steve Eminger
7. Zherdev
8. Adam Oates
9. Mike York/Geoff Sanderson - inlcuding them as one loser
10. JVR

LSchenn has 350+ games under his belt and he's only 24.

I can't think of how many d-men around the league are that young and have played that many games.

It is true that this is absolutely survivable/thrivable. I know people in their late 40s who've lived without their thyroids since their early 20s with no real issue except having to take thyroid replacement (which I do without side-effects). Good luck to her.

Nope, he definitely has that ability.

I just think he is too slow, and too one dimensional. Not a fan, and don't see him being more of a 3rd pairing guy on a Stanley Cup winning team. Just me. Can agree to disagree.

Speaking of warming up to people, I am kind of surprised the Flyers haven't offered an extension to Berube.

Seems a few months after bringing in a new guy they extend him quickly. Kind of torn on him myself, some good things and some bad.

Not sure if I prefer any of the other options out there. I could see Carlyle getting the boot in Toronto. Maybe Therrien in Montreal and Hartley in Calgary. Noel is brutal, and not sure how long Boucher is signed for overseas.

Nothing that impressive.

This.

Luke was a beast down the stretch last season playing around 22 min a night. I'm praying he finds it again. I think he's looked good with Gus. I wish they would regularly get 20 min/games so Streit and Grossmann could play around 16-17. I've had enough Grossmann for a while.

Since I was urged by a few people to come back...I will. And for the record, I'm just not going to care about most of the conversations on here, and just have fun instead of hating everything like the bulk of everyone on here. That said, my top-10 Flyers of my lifetime:

1. Lindros - got me into hockey as a kid, and was (next to Lemieux) the most dominating player I have ever seen.
2. Richards - the Game 5 Montreal goal remains, to this day, my favorite goal of all time. Shame he was never the same player after the Booth hit.
3. Timonen - the best long-time Flyers defenseman I've has the pleasure of seeing (sorry, Yuskevich). Amazingly agile, great passer, underrated shot, and the best player at breaking up 2-on-1's I've ever seen.
4. LeClair - last Flyer to score 50 goals, and was near impossible to knock off the puck/out of the crease. His tormenting of Montreal was gold.
5. Pronger - here for only 2 years, but god damn he was amazing. Showed me what a hall of fame defenseman was. Was mean as hell and was a joy to watch both on and off the ice. I was at the Toronto game and it was a shame that Jagr's first 2 goals as a Flyer were overshadowed him the stick to his eye.
6. Hextall - was the best I've ever seen at being Ron Hextall.
7. Brind'Amour - like Timonen, but a forward. Hard-working, very underappreciated, but essential to a winning lineup. Could play any forward position at any manpower and excel. And his nose.
8. Giroux - probably the best puck possession player I've seen on the team since Forsberg left. When he is on his game, he is close to being the best player in the game. For whatever reason, his dazzling plays have tailed off, but he's worth the price of admission when he's on.
9. Gagne - Scored 2 of the greatest goals I've ever seen and was one of the game's premier scorers for a few years. Injuries derailed his career quite a bit, but had some of the best offensive skills the team's had in many years.
10. Forsberg - like Pronger, he was here for too short of a time, but was the best overall Flyer I'd seen at times, when he was on and healthy (which was far too infrequently). However, the things he did with the puck (and his body) were almost magical.

9. Renberg
10. Roenick

With Renberg, I always wonder, with some of the advancements in sports and medical care, how his career would have been if he had played a decade later. He was never the same after that initial hernia/groin surgery.

How Billy Tibbets, Ulf Samuelsson, and Jiri Dopita don't make it is beyond me. I guess they're not as big disappointments (well, Dopita was), but Tibbets is my least favorite Flyers of ever.

Edit: Oh, and Jan Hlavac.
