Just because we finish at the bottom of the standings doesn't mean we don't know what TALENT is in the NHL. To say Yakupov hasn't done anything to suggest he will be that level of player is just ignorant - TomKlassen
to say that he has...that's ignorant..look I would take a chance on trading for yaks..but he hasn't done anything yet to earn that superstar status..not even close..he has as much points or less then most teams 3 liners..hes a minus 30 and rarely shows any type of improvement.. |

So I'm ignorant for my baseless speculation, but your baseless specuating that Toronto fans are the most hated in the league is, what, intelligent?! - MnGump
You even said it yourself that Yakupov has the potential to make it big. How is this even up for debate?
I'm just speaking from opinion about the Leafs, but people seem to agree with me on that point... |

Somehow people seem to forget that he got 17 goals in 48 games played last year, which is probably a greater indication of his skills than his sophomore slump he is going through |

Just said he was better than Luongo.
Are you suggesting Luongo's the best goalie in the NHL? - Feeling Glucky?
Gotta love people who lie on here to prove a point, when it's so easily disproven....yet the sheep prefer believing the lies then to notice it was all poop to begin with.
Please, name me one Leaf fan who has said that Bernier is the BEST goalie in the NHL???

I know a lot of you edmontonians are going to jump down my throught but ive seen you guys compare Yaks to a mini Ovechkin,or the next Pavel Bure, but really he reminds me of Igor Korolev, same style of player..good but not great, one year 25 goals the next 12..no facts just opinion, just sayin |

Actually I find people outside of Edmonton are ones who call Yak "mini ovi" or "bure 2.0", not saying we don't call him that but still.
Either way, he BROKE Stamkos' scoring records in Sarnia. That is something definitely worth noting. |

That is my point! I could also say that people agree with my opinion! It's just speculation any way you slice it.
Yakupov could go either way. Plenty of first overalls that were supposed to be super stars that either had short careers or became mediocre players.
So again, what has he done so far in the NHL that all fingers point to him becoming an elite player? And what has he done to indicate he might not become an elite player?
Personally I think it's a good argument either way you choose to look at it, but at this point I think he has just as good of a chance to become a bust as he does to become the next great one...
One way or another we will eventually find out and you'll probably be right in the end. But so far at this point, nobody is wrong. |

leafs choked for 10 minutes, canucks choked for 5 games and couldnt seal the deal ahahahah. at the end of the day, the leafs franchise still had 13 cups, while the canucks window to win their first cup just closed ahahahah. go argue with a sens fan so you guys can discuss how sad it is to support a franchise that has yet to know what it feels like to win ahahahah that was so easy, canucks fans are too easy to win arguements against, all i need to do is bring up their zero stanley cups and then it's over. - sensnucksnocups
It's just a dumb argument really. It's not that you're winning, it's that people don't really care.
Look at the facts
Last Leaf Cup - 1967
Canucks inaugural season - 1970
Sens inaugural season - 1992
The Leafs last won the cup when before either team was in the league!
As a Leaf fan, that cup win is almost irrelevant. I'm more concerned with how they are doing right now.
Only one team has bragging rights right now and that's the Blackhawks.

Bang! Cups won pre-expansion era are pretty much meaningless on several fronts. Only 6 teams in the pre-expansion existence of the NHL. Leafs won their last cup in the first year of expansion hockey.
If anything that's a pretty good indicator of how irrelavant those cups are at present. Nice to think about if you're a Leafs fan, but meaningless in the grand scheme of things as it pertains to todays era of NHL hockey. |

Junior scoring is a pretty shaky basis.
Stamkos didn't have Galy to play with.
And just as a side note: Stamkos' best season with Sarnia was 105 points, with 58 goals in 61 games... Yak's was 101 points with 49 goals in 65 games. |

ROR and a 2nd for Drouin. - goavsgo10
I'd almost be tempted enough as Colorado's GM to change that 2nd to a 1st if it would get it done...Mackinnon and Drouin back together, plus Duchene, Stastny, Landeskog...eeee, nice forwards corps...but the Avs are probably better off using those assets to grab some real help on the blueline |

Yak js being asked to do thing in the NHL that he has never had to do before. In a perfect world he would be able to devolup in the miners for a year or two. If we had the defensive core to let him go out there and fly his numbers would be better. Long term this will make him a better player. For right now this rebuild is like trying to change a tire when your still driving the car. Gagner went through the same thing. |

Would still rather Drouin. Can't see Tampa ever even considering that deal. |
