wow...your dislike for Sutter is amazing

As for SILL, I think he could be up for good. The guy is a warrior and is a perfect fit for our 4th line.

- Orpik44

Sadly after his wrist surgery he is out for 3 months.

The guy is fearless even though he's not a very big guy. They should say goodbye to Adams after his deal runs out and insert Sill on the 4th.

I'm a BIG Jagr fan...I'd be all for it. THe guy is breaking Lemieux's every scoring record this year. Can you imagine if we could win a cup with #68 back in the Burgh? He should retire here.

Jagr is a gun for hire he doesn't care about retiring here. If we could get him back for a descent price I'd be ok with it. I just recall him not doing much in his cup run last year with Boston. And that was a strike shortened season.

J I also heard that Lecavalier is not doing that great. I think coach has been playing him at wing or something like that and he's not producing as well as @ C. Berube also ripped Mezsaros defensive game. That's not a good atmosphere to be in.
- Orpik44

Lecavalier had been fine, then hurt his back, and hasn't been great. There just isn't a good fit for him (see: Iginla/Jarome). As for Mez, his defensive gamehasn't been good since 10/11.

TIOPS says Anaheim may be looking to us for a right handed defenseman.

Yeah, an obvious reference to Niskanen. Not exactly sure what that trade with Anaheim would look like, though. The Pens need 3rd line W, but I'm not sure I like a Niskanen for Daniel Winnik, stright up trade very much.

BTW, Winnik is a guy I'd check in on as a UFA if I were Shero this offseason.

Patty Maroon, maybe? Big, solid body, has some offensive upside, just needs to work on his skating a bit and could easily put in 9-12 a year.

Anaheim has some nice prospects, but the Pens are in 'win now' mode. If they move Niskanen it would be for someone that can help then win this year.

I don't think Maroon would fall into that category. Palmieri would, but I'd wager Anaheim wants to hold on to him for quite a while for obvious reasons. That leaves Winnik as only pending UFA out of Anaheim that I can see Pitt. being interested in.

I can't see anyone thinking Robert Bortuzzo is an "impact" defenseman.

Fair enough. And I agree, they're probably not looking to move Palmieri.

Or Engelland....although I actually prefer him as a 4th liner over Adams any day of the week...

What is with the hate for Adams?? He is a 4th liner, and a pretty good one. He may not pot many goals, but he is a huge reason why the Penguins have the #1 PK in the NHL.

He isn't having a good year, I think he is at the end of the line.

His already mediocre foot-speed seems to have slipped this year, and as the season has progressed, he's been out of position quite a lot IMO. But I can't figure out if that's him falling off or him trying to cover up for the parade of fringe AHLers that he's had next to him and the rotating cast in the bottom 6. Or if maybe it's a combination of both?

Personally, i don't expect too much production from him. Fact is, he is averaging the most TOI shorthanded, forward or defenseman, on the NHL's best PK.

I thought Lovejoy was a solid 5/6th Dman. Not amazing, but not terrible either.

yeah... I'd like to see him bought out or even kept as a 13 forward (even though Bylsma couldn't bear to scratch him).

I know Glass has had his ups and downs here, but a 4th line next season of Glass - Vitale - Sill isn't too bad. Enough speed and abrasiveness, and solid defensively.

I'm not looking for points either. He is slower and not making all the plays that he has in the past.

An interesting stat I have found is that Marc Andre Fleury has the #1 shorthanded save percentage in the NHL at .9337% out of goalies who have played at least 100 minutes of shorthanded time.

That is how you find yourself in the #1 PK ranking.

http://stats.hockeyanalys...s&sort=ShPctA&sortdir=ASC

He is so significantly better than all but 2 goalies (Schneider, Scrivens) that is concerns me that he can only start to see his numbers go down.

I don't think it's as much about production as it is the eye test with Adams and he's been failing it for a while now.

It's a chicken and the egg argument. Pens PK is good because Fleury has been good shorthanded, and Fleury SH SV% is good because he has a good PK unit in front of him.
