Saying he sucks was a bit harsh. I don't see a significant drop off if he is gone next year. I'd prefer to part ways
- dbell646

Perhaps Buffalo? He's from there.

I could see him and Callahan signing there.

I like Orpik and his leadership, but he is a shadow of what he use to be. The past several yrs he just looks weak defensivly, he cant clear the net at all and is just slower. Now if I'm Orpik, I've won a cup, played with the best, silver medal, and who knows what medal this year. Im going UFA and cashing out and setting myself up. No way in hell would I take a cut. Plus a team like FLA or somewhere sunny, ride my days out and play a 1/3 less game for 2x what the Pens would pay.

Dregger reporting Rangers gathering intel on Stewart for Calli swap. I'd do that all day if I was St Louis

Just to point out... Chris Kunitz is tied with the Great 8 in points. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth/fingers 50-some odd games into a season until the past 2 years.

(though in fairness, Kunitz has played 4 more games)

I could see Orpik going there, but not Callahan unless they dramatically over pay. You'd have to think Callahan wants to go to a winning situation. Buff is several years away from contending. They are seriously devoid of talent and will probably sell off the remaining established NHL players. It won't be possible for them to reload quickly via free agency.

Definitely. Apples and Oranges here. One is a mature leader, the other just lacks effort although talented enough to be a game changer.

As much as I see Orpik as the eternal Penguin and a guy that seems like he should play out his whole career in 1 city, I can't disagree with this logic from Orpik's POV. Unless he thinks he's got another cup in him (and honestly, if he wins a 2nd this year, I think he does immediately jump straight to your line of thinking) and Pittsburgh is the place to get it, he's gonna look to cash out.

Yep. Scuderi already did that. I would be happy for Brooks if he decides to go that route. Hopefully we can get another cup with him AND Jagr

Yeah. And I think both the organization and the fans had the same reaction with Scuds. "You deserve to get paid and it won't happen here. Thanks & best of luck!"

He got paid and then came back. That he managed to win another cup while getting paid was like gravy for him.

Then got paid again to come back. I love Orpik and I'm glad he played here but all good things come to an end. It's the circle of life my friends

I guess I can't embed a vine here, but it's Kovalchuk juggling two pucks at once and batting them out of the air.

For years, Rags fans female doged about Gaborik being an enigma, one who takes shifts off and disappears in games. Stewart is every bit that and more. He is a malcontent. I don't think much of Sather as a GM. I think he is among the worst in the league. He makes this deal, he might cement the title as worst. STL should do this one quickly, even though Callahan is a pending UFA and Stewart has one more year at 4.125 after this.

Impressive. I know I didn't shed any tears, but a talent like him skipping across the pond is a big loss for the NHL. Not crippling by any means, but it'd be a better league with him in it.

i know no one cares but im pissed that ana is looking for a right handed def now... we could have tried for ryan.. wonder what they want for Etem?

guys I wouldnt mind if Shero went after

E. Kane
Oshie
Eberle
Ott
Jagr
Wheeler
Kadri
Kulimen

I dont think we need to go crazy bc we still have bennett coming back. and they can even slot bennett with sutter and megna.

Pass on three of those names. Kulimen ... what exactly intrigues you about him? Kadri and Kane are two immature punks that I couldn't root for as a Penguin.

All have skill and I feel need a change of scenery. I think having a center wing combo of sid/kuni or geno/neal would open up their potential.

just my 2 cents...

I just looked and pens have a lot of rfa's.. hoping they resign sill megna gibbons despres samuelsson sutter vitale and harry Z

Not decided yet on pyatt and engles should be resigned

glass, conner, d'agostini, kobesaw can walk

I'd re-sign Engelland for minimum $$. He can play D/W and is not horrible.

D'Agostini was claimed off waivers by Buffalo a while ago.

Would you guys give Despres for Etem? I personally would ask for a bit more if that happened.

your right about dago.. thanks ek, lol

Idk about despres for etem, despres is already sorta proven nhl'er, just no room on roster... has etem been playing? I just like him as a prospect winger in our system... plus hes friends with bennett and train in the offseason...
