No GM in his right mind would sign Gab long term. Tons of talent but to high risk. Has been off the radar of the league since he was in NY.

What GM in his right mind would issue Clarkson his contract?

Me too, they've done a lot for this team and the city of Vancouver. They can still produce as well, but the time for change is upon us.

(frank)in Mike Gillis won't do poop though

- LeftCoaster

I have backed up Gillis from the beginning but I to am starting to lose faith. After the whole reset BS and only changing coaches? Yeah not impressed. I like Torts he is doing well to change the culture of the hockey club but changing coaches is NOT a reset.

So does Gagner qualify for a compliance buyout?

especially in this division.

he'd be a very solid 2c in the east. or surrounded by some behemoths

- hugefemale dog77

Ya he's not a Western type of guy, drafting him is when the rebuild started FYI

Should have drafted Voracek or Couture

I think we need another offseason to judge how he handles this situation. He's been hamstrung by cap issues especially when considering Booth being injured and therefore ineligible for a buyout.

Two words - Mike Gillis
- LeftCoaster

Gillis needs Darcy treatment. Breakout the chat during games. "Fire Gillis" it is tough being a nucks fan living in Toronto these days. Even the franking leafs are winning.

couture ........

i think the jurys still out on the last few years of drafting. we have a few later picks that might be ok..marincin, pitlick, khaira etc.

but our drafting for 15 years previous has been atrocious. (hemsky and smyth)
biggest reason we are where we are id say. absolutely NOTHING in the cupboards when they tore it down

Who is the last big UFA signing that has lived up to their contract? I cant think of any? You would hope these poopty signings would stop someday....
- Iggysbff

I'd say Scott Niedermayer and Zdeno Chara.

no.

And hes playing much better lately. Think he came back from injury too early and that faceshield (frank)ed things up too.

The reason I ask is i'm pretty sure his deal was signed after the new CBA, so it would be weird. I don't know what kind of return you'd get for him right now. Probably best to keep him for his 1 year of NTC and try to move him the following season.

Even with cap space, Gillis is in tough. He has 10 NTC on the roster to deal with and a very shallow UFA pool.

id do it in a heartbeat

kesler is exactly the type of 2c this team could use. so good both ways. physical, a total azzhole, great skater etc etc

tanev isnt the dominant guy we want as an ender. but as an addition, he's a very good depth guy. solid both ways and young. he'd be in our top 4 right now and still easy top 6 going forward

I think so he has had his good and bad. We can say that about any GM in the league. At least he's not Klowe or Nonis.

Other than the one ANH game, the Canucks have usually played up to the better teams and down to the poor ones, this season.

But with the short memories on this board it's not surprising this isn't brought up.

I'd expect a better game than against the EDMs/CLGs.

OT or SOL is my guess.

i dont hate gagner. he's a skilled player, with heart and character. i just think he's part of the problem in edm with being the least talented of an already small group.
if he was a demon defensively or in the dot even...but he's not.

he'd be solid somewhere. i just dont see him as a good fit at all with the group already in place

He's really backed himself into a corner, Detroit and Vancouver are taking very similar downward paths.

I'd seriously become a Flames fan if the Oil ever signed or traded for Kesler....
