My man, the market sets the price, not me. People are willing to pay that much money cause that's how much he is "worth", but I can see why someone would be apprehensive. Contracts like Clarkson's are scary, but you have to take a risk; if you want the reward.

Who is the last big UFA signing that has lived up to their contract? I cant think of any? You would hope these poopty signings would stop someday....

There are a few guys I'd like to see retire as Canucks, he's one of em.

What if he's not ready to retire for another 8 seasons?

Sometimes you've gotta take a step backwards to move forwards, what we need is some foresight.
- LeftCoaster

I'm not afraid of change. If all your players aren't available for the right price you shouldn't be a GM.

We've won nothing with the twins and Kesler as our core up front, now we're definitely trending downward. We came close, but it's time to move on IMO.

Add to that we're now competing with teams like Anaheim, St. Louis, Los Angeles, San Jose, Colorado and Chicago - we're (frank)ed because A) we're not built to play a big mans grinding game B) we're not as skilled as ANY of those teams and C) were older than all of those teams.

- LeftCoaster

Why does it feel like we are always trying to play catch up? We were big but the rest of the teams were getting faster with skill players so we changed direction. Drafting skill, signing offensive D that can skate. Smaller faster players, finally when we get there the better tams have changed direction and are now going big and nasty. We need management with vision. Stop drafting the best available and start taking position of need. Edm drafted best available for last decade and they are still not even close to making playoffs. Spend money now on players that will sign without NTC and trade them if they falter. This hometown discount is not working. We are getting what we paid for. I still think something drastic needs to happen for a change. We need to miss the playoffs by atleast 10 points for management and owners to realize that we are not good enough. There is a difference between a playoff team and a contender. If we are only going to make the playoffs then is there any benefit other then to the owner? Gillis needs Darcy treatment from Fans to realize that we are not happy with the "process" Make some bold moves and complete this reset.

It would make sense, but would create a huge hole in that lineup.

Me too, they've done a lot for this team and the city of Vancouver. They can still produce as well, but the time for change is upon us.

(frank)in Mike Gillis won't do poop though

I really like KB but if he wasn't such a good interview I'd like him less. He brings a bunch of intangibles to the team but he also makes a ton of mistakes.

Jiri Hudler is doing pretty well in Calgary.
Clarke McArthur is absolutely killing it in Ottawa.
Brad Richards hasnt lived up to his expectations, but I'd say its due more to perception rather than his "play".
Zach Parise and Ryan Suter are bringing excitement back to the hockey state.

There are good stories as well as bad.
