I was just looking at the UFA class this summer.

It is weak. Vanek is going to be paid a fortune.

The problem is you end up with contracts like Clarkson's, and that doesn't help the team at all.

Callahan is a good player but is he worth a 6mil 7yr deal?

There will be an all out bidding war for Mike Cammilari.

Gaborik will most likely sign a big figure longterm deal and he can't put together 5 games in row.

What about Callahan? Eklund is losing his mind about him right now. I would love to see MG take a run at him in FA. Any word how he and Torts got along? Seems like a "Torts" kind of player.

Do you really want to give Vanek $56 million?
- golfingsince

Considering that the cap will go up, and that we're staying the course in terms of competing for the cup, yeah I would.

dont feel like studying and the oilers thread sucks right now.
all we have to talk about is resigning lifelong 6th at best dman anton fuking belov or how badly sj is gonna rape us tonight.

anyone wanna argue?

kassian is a dbag, the nucks are a middling team on their way down, and kesler dives too much.

Callahan is a very good player, but he doesn't solve the teams offense problem.

He is asking 6 mil over 7 years. Will he really improve the team enough to earn that kind of contract?

I'm not even sure $56 Million gets it done. I'd much rather trade an established player for a young Strome type.

We were just talking about how bad Chicago was going to rape us tonight. Maybe we can share an ambulance and doughnut pillow after.

My man, the market sets the price, not me. People are willing to pay that much money cause that's how much he is "worth", but I can see why someone would be apprehensive. Contracts like Clarkson's are scary, but you have to take a risk; if you want the reward.

somebodies gonna regret paying dan girardi 6 mil for the next 7 years.
id say there's a decent chance it's the oilers in their desperation for defence

Hall will retire due to injury in 3 years. RNH has the strength of an average 12 year old. The Oilers are still worse than the Flames.

The Sedins, Kesler, Hamhuis, Kassian, and Luongo are the only good things about this team.

Garrison, Burrows, Hansen, and maybe Edler should be traded. Don't get me wrong, all of these players are paid what they're worth, but none of them are going to bring something different.

I've said it before, this team has is full of similar players, and they need to diversify.

I said this earlier this season and I agree and still stick to this assessment. Change is good but not if it makes us worse.

Wow, everyone screaming for a trade for a top 6, or 2 or 3 top 6, what top 6 have been traded this year other that Moulson and Vanek? I wasn't expecting much from this year because of the salary cap and it being an Olympic year and having the schedule compressed. Any legit top 6 will cost us Horvat, it's that simple. To many NTC amongst the core players and very little patience among Canuck fans, I guess we've been spoiled under Gillis and now we want more. No trades will be made this year, any trade will come on draft day. To many people want to blow up the team. Let our core rest and make some spots available for the kids coming up. Hockey is on the back burner for me anyway, F1 testing has started and spring is around the corner if not here now.

Miss the playoffs and get a better pick, buy out Booth and trade one of the NTC's at the draft.

Wouldn't bother me, but if we're going for youth you know KB should be moved.

No GM in his right mind would sign Gab long term. Tons of talent but to high risk. Has been off the radar of the league since he was in NY.
