I was of the mind-set all we need to do is acquire a top six LW'er, I changed my mind over the course of the past few weeks and after that Oiler game - blow this mother (frank)er up!!!!! |

If Gillis trades the wrong D-man does she still get the full 2 inches of throbbing gristle? - As_I_See_It

I wouldn't blow it up, but is trade for futures + cap space and move on from there. Aim to have a respectable line up the season after next. |

Well ok blow it up means trade Kesler and a defenceman for some picks and players. As long as we've got the twins we'll be somewhat competitive. |

I have 3 people from Chicago in my thank Clan.... all Hawks fans. I'll probably have to mute these (frank)ers on Teamspeak. |

This core has been around for probably the longest time in this cap world. A shakeup is required to change the mentality. Trade someone. and not just booth, Higgins or Hansen. Needs to be either a top4 d or top 6 forward. Major change to change the attitude. |

Lets be honest, most of the blow up talk is about our second line. Its has been for years and years. Gillis hasnt found a fit since he offered Sundin 20 million....
A center and a winger for the second line is mostly what is being fantasized about. |

I don't think we have the depth to acquire a top six forward, thus I think it's time to build one. Kesler would do wonders in Columbus for the Jackets, they NEED to make the playoffs. |

This squad fails to motivate themselves when they play the lower quality teams, but step up when they play the "better" teams in the NHL. These guys still haven't realized that they are not the team they once were.
If you were to ask me what the problem is, I would say its a motivational issue. These guys just come into work day in day out, but they are not doing the things they need to do to succeed. When Sully and Torts say its a mindset issue, they aren't wrong at all. They understand that a multitude of issues effed up the teams psyche, and AV did nothing to fix it. They know that they have to heal this team mentally. Unfortunately, the healing process is a slow one.
Hopefully torts can do what he set out to do, change the fabric of this team. He cant do it on his own though, and Gillis has to step up and make some moves.
The issues on this team are multi-tiered. They have management issues, they have player personnel issues, and they have motivational issues. Its gonna be tough to right this ship, but there is a possibility it can be set on course. It starts by bringing in some new top-6 blood. - Gullzy

Yes - this is what we ultimately need to work towards because we've been pissin in the wind for far too long. |

Never know, he's an American and they're trending up with some good people in management positions. I would hazard a guess that whatever happened between him and whomever in college is long forgotten. That was ten years ago. It's close to Detroit, his home, it's in the States and it's an eastern team. Seems like a good fit to me. |

The Sedins, Kesler, Hamhuis, Kassian, and Luongo are the only good things about this team.
Garrison, Burrows, Hansen, and maybe Edler should be traded. Don't get me wrong, all of these players are paid what they're worth, but none of them are going to bring something different.
I've said it before, this team has is full of similar players, and they need to diversify. |

I was just looking at the UFA class this summer.
It is weak. Vanek is going to be paid a fortune. |

The Canucks should drop this "payment structure" bs they got going. If you're competing to sign a player, you put your money where your mouth is. |

We've won nothing with the twins and Kesler as our core up front, now we're definitely trending downward. We came close, but it's time to move on IMO.
Add to that we're now competing with teams like Anaheim, St. Louis, Los Angeles, San Jose, Colorado and Chicago - we're (frank)ed because A) we're not built to play a big mans grinding game B) we're not as skilled as ANY of those teams and C) were older than all of those teams. |
