There are definitely some good shots, but those happen in every game, that's where you need stellar play from the goalie. But there were far from 40 good shots.

And posts are BAD shots, haha. It means the goalie didn't get in the way of the shot, and the scorer missed the goal anyway.

Wait? What? Does it bother anyone else that the Art is speaking nicely? To a Leafs fan??

In all honesty, I'll have to agree with you. This guy seems to be a fan of the game as well as the Leafs. Gave his opinion without being a arse about it. Nice.

a post is really 50/50, it can go the other way or off the post and in. my whole life I was taught to aim for the post , its a vulnerable spot for goalies (maybe not a 6'7 goalie with 5 foot legs) but still, is a good shot..its a close shot and I agree with you by no means was it 40 good shots, a dump in from our end that lands on net is a damn shot, but I can't say a post is a bad shot because half of them go in, and its a vulnerable place to aim on goalies

I think when a shot goes off the post/crossbar and directly in the net it's a perfectly placed shot, you cant really get any better than the sound of iron and the sight of the mesh swinging afterwards
my point is kind of all over the place here, but what im getting at is that hitting the post is better than missing the net. if it doesn't go in I understand its a bad shot , but it also could deflect right out front or on a guys stick , and in the end is a great place to aim anyways

Ummm...lets see how the blog starts and compare to your post.

"The Tampa Bay Lightning dominated the possession battle against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night, but ultimately dropped a 3-2 decision at the Air Canada Centre. Against one of the league’s worst five-on-five clubs, the Lightning generated zone time, shots, and quality chances. It wasn’t enough. Toronto goaltender Jonathan Bernier was there each and every time. His stellar play led the Leafs to victory."

Where in there is anything about being "lucky"? Michael's blog pointed out that for the most part the Bolts did in fact control the possession battle. They fired more shots, not all of which were high quality but they used the possession time to fire more shots nonetheless. Newsflash, the Leafs are one of the worst 5-on-5 possession teams in the NHL. The possession metrics back this up along with the numbers for the season. The Leafs capitalized on the Bolts mistakes last night and Bishop didn't make the saves to back up our mistakes. That is the story of the game. The Leafs won. No matter how or why they won and got the 2 points. Why you feel the need to argue about the Leafs being "lucky" I have no idea?

Now for your bolded comment? That is just ludicrous and quite frankly ignorant to make that statement. I won't even compare the rosters or play that game but to say the Bolts lack in skill either means you are ignorant to any other team outside of Toronto or you know very little about hockey.

Congrats on your 2 points

No way a post is 50/50.

Think of how many times in a game a puck goes off a post.

You really want to say that half of the times you hear a "ding" it goes in?

pretty close...if it hits the post it either goes 1 way (towards corner) or the other (in the net) ... or it bouces out front for a scoring oppurtunity... it doesnt matter anyway, hitting the post isn't a "bad" shot in my opinion, but whats that worth? zero

How about the title of the blog? Isn't that a reference to Bernier being the only reason for the Leafs' win?

Yeah, anytime someone disagrees with you about your team's skill level, that must mean they know nothing about hockey. Intelligent statement, bud. You're getting decent production from a variety of different guys, but let's be honest. Who do you have up front right now beyond St Louis? Filpulla? Malone? Purcell? Not exactly top tier guys

I'm shocked at how well you guys have done this year with such a group of pluggers. It's a testament to your coach and your goalie. And obviously St Louis, who is a beauty. But a team with high end talent is gonna walk all over you in the playoffs. I'm praying that the Leafs draw Tampa in the first round. Would be a cakewalk

this is complete BS man, have some respect....your team just got brutally outplayed by ours and you're talking about best of 7's being a cake walk...come on now,

I have a completely different view, as I think a first round vs the Leafs would be a joke, bring on the 2nd round in 4...ill take the way we played against you over the way you played against us 8 days a week, that series would be 4-0 / 4-1 my friend...bernier could steal you another one..

you won 1 game and we have what, 4?5? left...let's just see how the rest of them pan out before we start disrespecting each other , holy (frank)

you have no idea who its a testament towards, or else you wouldn't be so oblivious saying its only our coach marty and bishop...i dont need to say anymore than that, because everyone in tampa knows what our team is made of and i dont need to list it off you basically support us, by telling us we have an offensive output from various different guys...isn't that what playoff teams are all about? depth scoring? depth production? depth rosters filled with people of versatality

I think he's been fantastic maybe some mental errors lately but that can be expected of course it won't be tolerated for long if its a repeating process but going into this I never thought gudas would be a top 4 defense man but he's done nothing but prove to me he is this season

Riley let it go, they win on counter punches being knockouts which happens now and then by capitalizing on mistakes in close games otherwise they lose. You can't play a rope a dope game for long they are not Ali. Statistically it will bite them in the ass, you can't be outplayed, outshot and lose the time of possession game all the time and expect to win, they think they're the Anomoly but in fact fooling themselves to believe they are. They won let them crow So they're 5 points behind but we have 2 games in hand plus 3 more against them so that's 10 points because they probably only win one in the series.
