Fairly certain the Kessel one was a joke. But hey, it's written so use it.
- weirdoh

All of them were jokes. His idea was to spotlight the most ridiculous trade proposals via twitter and create the team that "the fans want".

Well, most venues were already under construction.

It's also a lot easier to smuggle something into russia than the USA

I'm not so sure Russian anti-terrorism police are as beholden to the rule of law and due process as they are in most of the Western world, which makes it easier for them to combat terrorist threats.

I don't mind them... but at the same time, don't let the lack of opinion lead you to believe they're unbiased. Just picking and choosing which facts to present can completely change the story.

Basically, if you hear a story that interests you... you gotta do research, looking at a bunch of different news sources to form a proper opinion.

Which is hard to do for everything... which is why more people should just STFU about the things they don't understand.

It would. But when dealing with the Olympics, every nation is there and being represented. So they all would, in some way, take it personally and vow revenge or holding those responsible and accountable. At the very least, those who suffered casualties of it's own citizens representing their country at the games.

That was a brutal piece by Huddle. Let's be honest. Was really interested to see how the line up and trades would shake up but he hand picked a joke rumour, and two or three others and ignored 500,000 other trades that could have been considered.

The issue is that those issues existed in that region previous to this. The olympic has now given them an audience.
- burn

I get that. The mission of the Olympics, in theory, is apolitical. That's why China gets it in 2008 and why the Nazi regime was able to host the world in 1936.

So he used them not knowing it was a joke? He added the tweet like it was proof somebody said it, so it must mean they wanted it. It's like coming in here and saying somebody actually wanted to trade Kessel for a hockey stick.

Wasn't the Atlanta bomb set off by some American nut job?

The issue with any religious or political terrorist attack on the games is that whoever is responsible will face the wrath of just about every nation at the games, not just the Russians.

- systemtool

If you look at it rationally, yes.

But people aren't rational.

If you're in one of the war torn regions that's been decimated by Russian imperialism and disregard for human life... anything to draw attention to your plight is a good thing.

And here's the kicker, depending on how Russia responds, even the vilest terrorist attack can win the attackers favor around the world.

Look at the US after 9/11. Everyone hated Al Qaeda for what they did. But in only a few years, popular sentiment turned back around against the US, and the middle east, despite years of US attempts to destroy Al Qaeda, is probably now more under their control than it ever was.

Look at Palestinians and Israel. Palestinians carry our terror attacks against Israel, yet the general public opinion is that Israel is the villain in the region- and their military responses don't do much to dissuade that belief.

The sad thing is, he didn't seem aware they were jokes or didnt care, but tried to write up a serious picture of the Leafs team if the fans were running the show. Im still confused as to what he was trying accomplish...

Depends... alot of things that are news are opinions and not facts. Unfortunately life is not simple.
- HipHopisDead

trust me.. watch it..

its straight up "here's what happened"

not hey, here is what we think this means, or this is what he/she said so here is our analyst

i was honestly impressed. just a straight presentation of fact. and when someone did come on, they were clear about whose side of the issue they represented and that their opinions were not those of the network.

its truly honest news.. and actually.. many journalists are jumping ship to go to them.

Gus K ended up doing something with TSN. But man his blogs were so heavy in stats and numbers it felt like reading a (frank)ing math book.

Best blogger ever on this site was Kevin Gibson.
