Monahan looks like a good player, but I think it's a little early for this type of banter, don't you?
- BetterCallSaul

sheesh. You'd think he was a Leaf fan, talking about his players like that.....

Monahan - 20 pts in 45 games, -11
Baetschi - 11 pt in 26 games, -4
1st round selection can be from 1-5 (most likely 3rd), probably DalColle or Bennett

Can't assume all of those are automatically greater than 3 players who are in the NHL already, full time, and have had success.

Technically Kadri had a better Jr career, played on Team Canada and in his first 48 game season put up better numbers.

Also, this statement is WAYYYYY off on so many levels.

Agreed.

Although if MB is there to step in, dude will want one more Cup.
And he knows how to make it happen....

Its true, it wouldn't be the worst trade in the world, and has some goodness, but moving a 25 year old again, post Marty, would be risky...

I didn't backtrack this convo, but what is the point of this? You want to trade us a rookie, who plays top minutes on a shyte team, who has had a decent year...

....for our 2C who racked up at a point a game pace last year?

Ya...Kadri had a better junior career because he had a longer junior career.

As far as the world juniors, Kadri only made it after he was drafted. Monahan would have been there had he been available this year.

I must say, I watch the alternate feeds and other broadcasts are finally giving the LEafs respect now, they talk about how they can burn a team, rather than how easy it is to burn the LEafs - its nice

No debate for me. I take Clarkson over Leino all day.
- Leafs43

Both Big Contract Busts

Yeah Clarkson is better than Leino, but Komarov was better at his role than Clarkson.

The stuff with Clarkson and Clark at the start of the year makes me sick to watch now

Clark could still outplay or beat the crap out of Clarkson to this day!

No. Monahan might be the better player when all is said and done, but you don't trade the skill that Kadri has for a maybe.

well sort of....

One of your Leafs brethren offered:

Monahan, 2014 First, Baertschi

for

Kadri, Gardiner, Reimer

then I said

Monahan > Kadri

First > Gardiner

Baertschi > Reimer

Not to mention he's comparing Monahan's stats this year to Kadri's first "full" NHL season 4 years after he was drafted......

gotcha. i wouldnt tke that trade either from CGYs standpoint.

but from a Toronto standpoint, we are moving 3 nhlers for 1 1/2 proven nhlers.
So I wouldnt take that from a toronto standpoint.

Not in my opinion. He's still growing as a player, but has shown he should be a very good 2C.

Fair enough....

Either way I think Calgary gets raped in that deal. Not that it makes any sense anyways.

I agree. Too much youth being tossed around for teams that need REAL leadership...
