I agree completely.

I'm gonna give Clarkson a mulligan this season. It's all but a right off. Who knows though? Maybe he'll pull up his socks during the crunch time in the last 3 weeks of the season. No point belly aching over what's done and signed. We can't change anything. Only Rocky and the Russians can change.

Clarkson is about as ineffective as putting Bodie on the 2nd line....so we can have that "big body" presence....a big body doesn't matter if the guy can't contribute in any other way....
- ThePresident

I'm giving Clarkson more than 35 games before I write him off completely.

I wouldn't know. I've seen Clarkson on the second line for a total of what....8 minutes? Clarkson isn't a big body. He's a guy who plays hard and has a nose for the net. If he can plant himself there and have Kadri and Lupul bang some shots on net, the rebounds are all his. He's scored before in this league, and regardless of what others say, he's not a fluke even if he isn't a consistent 20-30 goal guy.

It's done, he's signed....nothing we can do about it...but what I'm saying is we still have a big hole on our 2nd line RW position....unfortunately we paid 5.25 per for a 3rd liner, which is what I said would happen....but I digress, I'm still holding out hope that we can somehow unload him....I don't see him improving...30 years old after this season, a career 30-40 point a season man, IF he has a good season....I don't know what everyone was thinking when they wanted him on the team....a great season for him is 40 points....that's his ceiling, pretty bad.

Im the same way. It's been a weird start to the season and he just hasn't really found his groove. Not saying he will, but Im not convinced we've seen the best this guy has to offer.

We paid that for a 2nd liner, which he was when we aquired him. We've been using him as a 3rd liner. Maybe it's time we start using the 2nd liner we got as a 2nd liner and actually letting him see some PP time once in a green moon.

What I think the problem is, is the offensive style of our top 6. I've mentioned it before, but I think Clarkson just isn't suited to play rush offense. He doesn't have hands or much of a shot so he is best in the corners and in front of the net. The problem? Our offense is primarily off of the rush and creates little zone time so he and his averaging skating are forced to go up and down the ice without any cycling or battling down low. This is why he looks so much more effective on the third line playing with strong possession players.

Until our second line consists of at least one other strong possession/cycling player, Clarkson will only look useful on the third line.

We signed him to be a 2nd line RWer on the team, no? He hasn't shown anything to prove that he is....he's not being given the minutes, or playing on the 2nd line because he has been a disappointment....because he's not cut out for it...because he's not playing with Kovalchuk padding his stats.

Don't have to yell at me. I was just sayin' is all. Gee whiz.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure it was his goal scoring prowess that people had little boners for. I think it was that he played that rugged and tough style while still being able to bury 15-20 goals a year. He hasn't even done that though. Hopefully next season he'll show it.

Play him on the PP then. He led the Devils in PP goals last year and was 2nd in PP goals the year before that.

The problem is that our team loves to pass the puck 25 times for every shot they take. Maybe more shots and less passes will get you more use out of Clarkson. A guy who has a nose for the net is only useful if pucks are getting to the net.

Connor Brown - UNREAL!!!

The kid just keeps racking on the points:
48GP, 36Goals, 64Assists, 100Pts, +35

Is this kid for real or a future AHL star?

That's my point, we bought a guy to play second line, stir some poop and play in front of the net on the PP.. SO let him..

If we did, why has he barely seen any time on that line and on the PP? IMO, the team hasn't used him to his strenghts.
