It could be worse, they could of had a top 10 draft pick for like the last 8 years and still be terrible.. Sorry oilers - drummer829
Edmonton has no equal in terms of being a terrible franchise - possibly worst in all pro sports.

I would also trade JVR for Malkin. - Cooshie
Now that's exaggerating! I know it'd take a little more. Picks and/or prospects. |

Pens and Kadri, eh? Well, I'm going to call BS on this one. Other than a 1C, we don't need anything they have.
Of course, it IS true that Nonis has been floating the idea of a 'larger' move in the media. Not sure if this falls within the realm of possibility though...
I guess it would be for Malkin -- and Kadri would end up as their 2C.
People seem to be saying Gardiner would be part of it, but I'm pretty sure Reilly would be the piece to move. And probably everything else we have of value too.
Kadri, Reilly, 1st for Malkin?
Is that even enough? Not likely...
It would definitely free up a bunch of cap space for the Pens to make other moves though. Like if they wanted get Miller and/or Moulson and extend them.
Anyway, still seems implausible to me. I'm just spitballing. |

It wouldn't take a little more...it would take A LOT more...
Reason being, Toronto is lacking at Center...they aren't going to trade their top skilled center for a bunch of parts. You do that when you are trading from a position of strength.
If anything, Toronto would be adding to Kadri to get a better center. |

you are pretty much dead on.
Unless it's part of a much bigger trade where we give up a ton to get Malkin, no trade scenario with Pitt would make sense for Toronto.

Can we please put to rest Malkin being moved anywhere? He has a full NMC and is not going anywhere. He would go to the KHL before Toronto. If anyone is moving to free up cap room, it's Letang. |

Have you had conversations with Malkin? Has he ever stated his hatred for Toronto or are you just making up poop?
By the way, Toronto wouldn't touch Letang so that's not happening and there is no one else on Pitt that Toronto would trade value for. |

Oh, I completely agree with you. It will never happen.
But if the Leafs are going to move a piece like Kadri, it would only be part of a bigger one to get that 1C. So Malkin would be the only target there.
Of course, that's all assuming Ek is accurate in that the Pens are looking at Kadri. And we all know that's more than a bit of a stretch |

We just haven't found a way to be the worst team in the league 4 years in a row to gather top picks...
That's right. The Penguins didn't do anything special to get good. They were just exceptionally terrible for a long time. (Chicago too) - SolidGoldBricks
I'm not going to argue that. There's no denying the Pens stunk out loud in the mid 2000's, and also in the 80's pre Mario and had the good timing to draft Crosby. There' also no denying that the Leafs have been a marginal team for most of the past 4 decades despite the wealth that comes from having the support of the biggest city in Canada and an unending supply of fans in a huge market that show up no matter how poor they play. I just get tired of Leafs fans for pissing all over other markets like they have anything to brag about and have a basis for looking down on teams that have been successful via a different route. I've been a fan since the early 80's and its really tiresome. |

Well seeing how he said he wants to play the rest of his career with the pens and then play for his hometown team before he retires I think it's safe to say he wont be waiving that nmc to go play with the dumpster fire players you pay to lace up for 4 min on the fourth line every night and all you sheep's in the stands.

Pitt should look at Boyes or PA. They both played really well with JT. |

Also, I really do not think Vanek will be traded until the last minute. The Isles will give him as much time as possible to decide on whether or not to take their offer. |

MTL and the AVS had a trade in place for a one on one trade with Bourque and PA parenteau. But the AVS went back on the decision and asked that the Habs trade a prospect (Andrighetto) which the habs won't trade.
The first trade offer was fair in my eyes... 2 years at 3 mil for bourque and 4 more at 4 for Parenteau ... seems fair and both need a change of scenery. |
