Which is fine with me, right now. If they give their best effort and lose, then you can't blame the players or coach. But when they're not giving 100% every night, then they need to absorb a large portion of the blame. In the NHL, if you give 95%, you will lose 95% of the time.

very true
if they consistently play hard and smart they should be a 94-98 point team and in the playoffs, hopefully they figure that out soon!

Yeah, it'd really be cool to see all of the bigger market teams, and how they've done historically with their attendance?
- Flyers_V88

Even the "small" market teams like Buffalo, Minnesota, and the Canadian teams don't have attendance problems.

"Small" maybe in relative population or density, or whatever. Yet, I'd say the Buffalo's and Minnesota's, etc, are actually the stronger pure hockey markets. Obviously the Canadian markets speak for themselves, albeit their poor earning power.

Fox news just reported that the NHL is considering pulling out of the Sochi games due to terrorism/security concerns. Wow, thats scary. How bad must the threat be if they would actually consider pulling out this close to the Olympics.

Can I have a link to an excellent graph that supports your claim...

I was talking about earning capacity/economics ("large" markets being the Metroploitan division, Phoenix, etc.)

Believe it or not the North Stars used to struggle with attendance when the team was bad. Minnesota fans would rather watch high school or college hockey at a much cheaper ticket price than a bad NHL team.

Does that mean that USA/Canada/Sweden wouldn't be able to ice teams? Because their rosters have already been submitted.

I doubt Hartnell would waive his NTC. But I was talking about Timonen and Mez. Do you still want this mass overhaul to happen if they're firmly locked in the #2 spot int he division at the TDL?
- jmatchett383

yes because this team will collapse eventually

I guess, I really don't know. The story didnt contain much detail or any quotes from any NHL or Olympic officials.

That's been in the news for the past week or so... a lot of players' families have already elected to not go to the games to be safe. Bettman said if the situation becomes more urgent, he wouldn't hesitate to pull NHL support, but in the meantime, everything is still a go.

Yes.

I think there is a provision for the league to pull the plug on this if they want to.

That said, I doubt that will happen, but this little bit of hand wringing will make it much better for when the NHL says "No" for sending players for the next two Winter Olympics.

I wouldn't allow the players over there if I was an owner. You have a vested interest in their safety, and right now I wouldn't want any player, especially a US born player, over in a hostile environment.

The Pope releasing the doves as a symbol for peace at the Olympics was pretty scary if you believe in such things.

I had a dream last night Homer traded Coburn and Mason to EDM for Nail and Laughton and a 1st for Miller and Myers.

I guess I should say nightmare, huh?

I do... I have a feeling something bad is going to happen. I don't think security there is going to be up to standard.
