Who else is going to play 25 a night? Donovan? Carkner? hickey? The options suck. Not to defend Cappy or a-Mac but the "D" is putrid. Vis helps, Hammer will too. Those two, de Haan and Strait will be the top 4 when a-Mac is traded.
- Jethro09

No one. Split up the time and give most of it to better defenders. DeHaan, Hickey, anyone but amac really.

P.A. Parenteau is a healthy scratch for the Avs tonight. Lots of talk that he'll be traded.

Maybe he's coming home!

Carkner was horrific... Hickey looked like an idiot a couple of times... That lil prck Marchand almost concussed OKposo on a blindside hit when he did not have the puck and then flopped every time someone touched him.. they called it 3 times.

Amack is a complete idiot.

Travis Hamonic being placed on IR retro to Jan 12th is very worrisome.

yeah.. I am guessing he tried very hard to get back to play this outdoor game and it clearly did not work. Hopefully he will be OK after olympic break.

Stupid NHL Mobile App...
Got a notification that showed up abbreviated on my screen...
"New York Islanders Forward Thomas Vanek ......"

Eagerly I tapped the headline...was he extended? Traded? Fined for his comments...what could it be? It was like Ralphie getting his message from Little Orphan Annie!!!!!.....

Then came the real headline:

"New York Islanders Forward Thomas Vanek Named Team Austria's Captain"..

Ovaltine?

Hmm, that's odd...I wonder if it's just being done to keep someone up for the moment since Staple said he might be back by the end of the week...

Guys I stole amacs prias and ditched it in the bay. hoping he won't make it to the game tomorrow.

btw I never made a new years resolution... so I'm determined to post atleast 1-5 comments a day on how much I can't stand amacs play.

Since we all want him traded, he will end up with a new contract... THAT is the way it normally works for us.

]If Hickey was the size of Carkner, Wang would be paying him $7M a year (actually, he'd be top four in Los Angeles, and we'd never have seen him here). He's a good, solid defenseman. Unfortunately, he's half the size of most of the forwards he goes up against, so when it's a case of mano a mano, he's f***ed. If Carkner could skate like Hickey, same deal, in my opinion. Unfortunately, one is a midget, and one can't skate-

so so true...good way of looking at it....waive Regin and Carkner and trade Bailey and Amac and we are already a better team.

That was the idea all along, but the major point is, not even Halak will keep this team above water and neither goalie will develop in a system that doesn't allow them to settle down, ever. We've seen very little of Nilsson save for a game here and a game there, so until the kid actually see's a wealth of consecutive games, we have no idea what the hell he is. At the beginning of the year I said I wanted Poulin to get a fair amount of games in so we could evaluate him by the trade deadline or at the latest seasons end. I think we've had that chance and while it's a poor environment to evaluate a goalie, I think it's time to send him back to the AHL and let Nilsson give it a shot.

I think Halak would be a big upgrade over what we have now. Might have even been a big enough upgrade to have stolen a few games, giving the isles more points and putting them in the thick of it even with the bad "D". Halak isn't turning this team into a contender, but he's much steadier and better than what Nabby and Poulin/Nilsson are now.

Go read Paul Stewart's last two blogs. He kills the war room in one and destroys Milbury in the other

It's sort of like saying, "Man that turd would smell better if we sprayed Glade on it!"
I agree that Halak is an upgrade, though I think he's even less durable than Nabby. That said, I don't care if you put Hasek in his prime on this team, the system is set up in such a way that no goalie will last long. Sure, maybe we steal a few more points with Halak, but I don't see him as a long term answer and our biggest problems will reamin the same.

We all wanted someone other than Nabby. I think that was widely agreed upon after last seasons Pitt series, but I have no interest in dealing assets for a goalie to put a bandaid on a gunshot wound.

"Over the years, many of my critics -- including the supervisors who took over after John McCauley's death -- said that I "tried to be the show" when I officiated"

I liked you Paul but it certainly seemed you wanted to be the show to me
Great blog by him and not just bcs it called out the obvious BS call on Vaneks goal but due to it being entertaining. I'm getting the impression he's not a fan of Campbell? Reading his article reinforced my opinion of Campbell being a half wit primate.
