Playing hard means nothing when you also play dumb and you coach dumb.

Kris King; "the one thing we are is consistent". "The Islanders could rest assured if that was them on the other side of this that wouldn't have been a goal against them"

Yeah sure Kris

All Ex-Rags working in Toronto and a call goes against the Isles? I'm shocked!

6th straight game #Isles have allowed at least 3 goals. 42nd time in 55 games this season.

The defense, goaltending, coaching and front office...

It's insult to our intellegence that Snow has a nerve to run out the following stiffs on a nightly basis: Poulin, Martinek. Carkner, Hickey, AMAC, Strait, Regin, Bailey, McDonald, Clutterbuck, Boulton...
- kear20

in all fairness i think you can leave Boulton out of this equation. Can't argue with the rest though.

If Nabokov was capable of playing, why didn't he start?
Apologies if this has been asked already, it should have been.

WOW the absolute best they can hope for is finish eighth again and get served up against PITT.

Why does he start the sieve when Nabby is ready and needs to get a game in before he plays in the stadium?

It's surprising that they have 50 points when they have the second worst GA in the league.

- Fan101

They are 6th in NHL in goals now. And still can't win

Agree, Poulin is only better than Dubnyk statistically in NHL. Yes the defense hasn't helped him at all but he's terrible, isles are now last in save percentage in NHL. .891

I lost it and poor Dan thought I was yelling at him on twitter. Fact is I was just yelling, even the (frank)ing Edmonton oilers who have been out of it since November went out and least tried with bryzgalov and now they just acquired Scrivens who is a UFA. Our goalie GM has done nothing to upgrade this position and the team will miss the playoffs because of it. Yes the defense is pretty bad but when do our goalies (outside San Jose) ever really help us ?

Great question and this from Cappy who always wants to play Nabby until he drops.

In all fairness, he doesn't have much choice. Poulin is the worst goalie in the NHL right now.

Here's what I didn't get to before, as I had to drive home from the arena. Regin and Carkner simply don't belong in the NHL, period- they should be waived, immediately. Bailey and MacDonald play with their heads stuck so far up their a$$es, it's a wonder they don't suffocate. Someone needs to kick them hard enough to pop their heads out. Poulin has no confidence, and no idea HOW to play the goal- he has the reflexes and some talent, but he needs to be coached by a real goalie coach, badly. However, after he completely sh*t the bed on the 4th goal, hiding in his net instead of coming out to challenge the shooter, he should have been gone to start the third, not after the game was already f***ed- like a manager who comes out to the mound to hook the pitcher right after the grand slam....thanks, f***ing genius. Do you get paid to do that? He needs to be f***ing fired, immediately- of all of the above he is far and away THE SINGLE biggest problem with this team, at this point. Coach F***ing Jacka$$.

Average goaltending and this team would be fighting for the division, let alone a playoff spot. And our coaching and defensive issues wouldn't be so highly visible.

I thought they played hard, they just didn't get the bounces. You have to hand it to Boston, they got a good team over there.
- mighty13duck

They played one good period and completely folded after giving up the fourth goal.

I know that this is off topic, but does anybody know why the Isles never signed Brenden Kichton, who went through the draft again and was drafted by the Jets in the last round. He just made the AHL all star team.

I think the bad coaching staff, goaltenders and most the defensemen goes hand in hand...Snow is to blame for this mess because he should have been aggressive in trades to fix the defense and goaltending in November but he let everything go status quo...
