I have a buddy that lives there and he and his wife are both lawyers (with no kids) and he was complaining about cost of living in SF.

They get all of those tax breaks from their hybrid cars, and eco-friendly appliances and solar panels to grow their pot with.

To be honest yes. All the straight edge people I meet are self rightous, smug people. And they were all smart arses about it.

In general I even hate the term "straight edge". Its just a smug term to describe someone does doesnt drink or smoke or does drugs... Like you need to distinguish yourselves from everyoene else because you dont....

Do you hate when Christians refer to themselves as Christians? Because they could just be a group of people who believe in Jesus Christ as their savior but choose to label themselves. Also, you forgot to add the "no promiscuous sex" part.

And, for the record, I bet I've met more people who criticize me for being straight edge than straight edge people who have been smug to you. I've had people want to fight me for not drinking, and I'm not sure why. I don't give a poop what you or anyone else does, but it's nice to know there's a community out there of people who don't just drink, smoke, and sleep around like most people do. But I don't go around preaching or acting like I'm any better, just a life choice.

Edit: Keep in mind that the term was coined in the 80s, when all people did was drink, do drugs, and sleep with every random person they could, and some people wanted to say, "Hey, I don't need to do that, and I have a group of friends who feel the same way."

I know. Carlin too. I remember when Carlin died. HBO showed all of his specials all night. I sat and watched every one. I think I finished a whole case that night.

The first Carlin bit I saw after I heard he died was the one about moving the contact info files of dead people around his computer like a parade or whatever. It was fittingly uncomfortable.

haha. I know which one you're talking about. His comedy was lost to my generation.

I had a professor in college for an Ethics class and for an entire class we watched Carlin. I had already seen everything he was showing. It was the best class I ever had. It was a 50 person class and 3 people knew who he was and maybe 7 had her his name before. I was the only one who had seen a lot of him.

Why would I say that? All I would say is, "No thanks." If they asked why, then I would say I'm straight edge. I wouldn't puff out my chest with a big poop-eating grin. I'm just like, "No thanks," and then when people find out I'm straight edge, I've been met with, "You f---ing someone who is attracted to the opposite sex," "You wussy," and a host of other fun stuff. The only time I actually got heated was at a bachelor party in AC where one of the dude's started to get in my face, saying I hated life because I didn't drink. I told him in no uncertain terms to get the hell away from me, or I was going to beat the balls off of him. He didn't and I did. Well, I actually just hit him twice.
