This is what I want, as an Islanders fan. Blues acquire Miller from Sabres, then flip Elliott to NYI. Blues can give up a d-man in the Miller trade and then trade Elliott to NYI for MacDonald.

It's true, although I feel like if St. Louis offered a good enough defenseman, Buffalo would take the deal. The Sabres are rebuilding; they need talent regardless of position. They can always trade from the D surplus to get some offense.

But if they wanted a forward, maybe the Islanders could put Bailey or maybe Grabner into a deal, although they seem attached to Grabner so I'm not sure they'd deal him.

I would do Gardner plus a second for Gagner plus a first

islander fan here, trust me, rebuilds don't always work out like that...just try to draft a corner stone like Tavares and just hope for the best

unfortunately not many teams find themselves in a position to draft a corner stone like Tavares. there are only so many guys that get into the OHL under age because people are worried they'll get bored playing in their age group.

How so? He's an "offensive" D-man that has only 17 points despite playing over 2 min per game PP time on a team that scores a lot of goals..... He doesn't kill penalties, he is small, he would do little to help Edmonton

I think he has more potential than Gagner to be honest.

Not a big fan of either guy, Gardiner has started to play a little better defensively and must continue if he wants to play for RC.

Just my 2 cents...Gagner doesn't help the leafs 1 iota making that a silly trade for the Leafs...I think they would be better to package Gards or Franson with Reimer if they are going to trade them.

We don't need a center now I don't believe we need somebody similar to Phaneuf.

So we should take a loss on a guy who is playing 22 minutes a night? So easy to target the negatives but if I said Myers should only get you Gagner in return because last year....blah blah, and remember.... blah blah, etc... you would flip out and call me a dumb@$$ pointing out all of Myers' positives.

Same situation here. Gardiner has negatives but is a damn good d-man, for cheap as hell and young too. The Leafs don't have to or want to move him but will if they are offered a package they cannot refuse, because of how deep they are with offensive d-men.

Now to me that package isn't Gagner+, doesn't matter what the '+' is it doesn't fill our needs. If Gardiner doesn't fill Edmonton's need then they shouldn't be asking for him.
