Lou doesn't like to get embarrassed. I think he tries hard to find an answer for the top line after that loss with everyone watching.

Yeah every time we have a chance to make a move in the standings they let us down as usual.
The Rags speed killed us for sure, we looked like we were skating in mud most of the game.
And what more can i say about our beloved captain Mr. Softee, other than he sucks even more than i thought. Everything about this guy is soft including his weak sauce shot.
I hope we have no more games on NBC i can't stand the buffoons they have doing the games; i sure missed Chico today!

Seriously, this is the most frustrating thing. It seems they always get on a run good enough to get 1-2 points away from the playoffs and then fall off. If we can stay healthy the rest of the year and start Schneider most nights we legitimately could get in but there needs to be some consistency and some accountability for the vets.

Fat chance that happens. No one wants Salvador or Volchenkov or Harrold can't move them till after this season and Lou is very patient he will wait this year out for sure.

I really hope having the team get embarrassed like that in an event where everyone was watching gets something moving...

Brodeur said DeBoer might have pulled him anyway, but he did tell him that he was OK with him putting in Schneider to get the experience.

Thanks Marty for being such a great guy and letting Cory play!

Not going to put much weight in a game like this. Our worst game of the season defensively, but probably had a lot to do with the game being outside.

Too many odd man rushes and I'm really sick of Salvador. Even more annoying may be the fact that it's probably a 99% chance we are stuck with him.

Marty Brodeur...GM...coach...goalie.

Lou & DeBoner are just faces. Character actors.

It's the Brodeur show in NJ.

Could we please pass the torch already. Brodeur was in my opinion the best goalie of the modern era. No slight to Roy but I take Brodeur, but he's been average to bad this season. He was average to bad last season, average the 2 years prior. It's time to let Schneider run with it. We need to win games if we want to make the playoffs. I get the loyalty thing but Brodeur has been in decline for 3 seasons. Please lets move on.

give Josefson a few more games. After that, try Elias LW and put Josefson in the middle. Try Lokti between Elias and Brunner. After that, all options are exhausted. We'll know everything we need to know by the trade deadline. Then, we grab.. a GOOD player. I really want O'Reilly. He can play that top line LW, and play center as well. Vanek would be the perfect fit with Zajac-Jagr, but that won't happen. O'Reilly won't happen either.. Roy loves him.. the Avs are good, so idk why I'm even suggesting. Moulson is meh. Idk what we need.. but we need it. Well i KNOW what we need.. but both of those stars decided to part ways..

this is true. embarrassed was the word i used when txting a friend updates on the game. Marty and the Devils were straight up embarrassed on national TV.

NJ doesn't have the assets to acquire an O'Reilly. The cost makes NJ worse not better. Nor can NJ afford to pay the rental cost on a Vanek or a Moulson. Neither of those players are signing here. No 1 wants to play here unless the money is so enticing they can't say no. We need to scrape the bargain bin & take another teams roster problem. Are prospect pipeline is virtually empty. We have no picks from trades & penalties from the NHL & what few we have left we need to try & restock our prospect system.

agreed, i like the outdoor games but both teams looked slow out there and the puck was bouncing all over the place.

Where was the excuse? He just said it was the worst ice he has ever played on, which is a statement about the ice not the game.

I know, I turned it on when it was 2-1, then well...kind of downhill from there.

I remember Messier last two seasons...Thinking he did a lot for NYR but he is pretty much done. Marty is at the same point of his amazing career and NJD gotta let him go.

I'm pretty sure it was. Elias finally scored, it's been forever, I think that was my fault too that he hasn't scored. Damn me.

It seemed like Schneider sort of already grabbed the starter job before this game, and after what went down I think he's really going to be starting the majority of the games from here on out. We'll see, should be interesting.

You give Marty his day in the sun and Cory probably plays the rest of the year. Marty has been alright once in a while but we all know it's the end of the line.

It's obvious Marty isn't close to being the workhorse he once was, and after yesterday's disaster i'm sure he can see the writing on the wall.
It's time to move on with Corey and hopefully Marty won't be selfish; accept his new role as a backup and let the transition move along smoothly.
I would have no problem with him staying next year as long as it's strictly a backup role.
Corey could learn a lot from him being around another year.
