All things considered if Marty gets butthurt about not starting Lou has to move him. Let him go somewhere else to play like he wants, and get some sort of asset for the franchise however you can. Lou would never admit to being a seller however, so I guess it's a moot point.

I know, I turned it on when it was 2-1, then well...kind of downhill from there.

I think they should even if he doesn't become like Langenbrunner did.

I just don't understand how we gave up 16 scoring chances before the third period on 21 (frank)ing shots. Absurd! What the hell happened to the systems we completely allowed the rangers to dictate the pace and we got buried.

I'm guessing they had too much fun and thought the game was over, because they looked like they went on a short vacation between the 1st and 2nd.

Seriously. I didn't think we played that great in the first either thought it was even if anything the rangers had more zone time but we just capitalized on the few chances we got. Rangers speed killed us today and really exposed how slow we all knew we where.

We're witnessing the moment Cory Schneider became our number one goalie.

Shouldn't have taken this long.

Marty has had a great career. I admit that I am on the record for arguing that he's been overrated for much of his career, but even I would say he's top-10 all time at his position, clearly one of the greatest to play the game.

But it's also clear that he has been a below-average NHL goalie for 3 or 4 years now.

In my opinion, bad goaltending probably cost the Devils a playoff spot last year, and could very well cost them a playoff spot again this year -- especially if Marty keeps getting half of the starts.

Of course, any fan would want to be loyal to the guy after all he's meant to the franchise over the years, but because he's a goalie, giving him more games than his play warrants comes at significant cost. Yzerman at 40 was a shadow of his former self, but he still had value as a 3rd/4th liner with some scoring punch. Goalies in decline don't have the luxury of being able to fade into the background gracefully like skaters do.

I had the distinct displeasure of watching Chris Osgood (who was never much more than average in the first place, but one of my heroes nonetheless) hang on two or three seasons past the point where he looked like he might not even be good enough to start in the AHL, much less the NHL. Brodeur hasn't gotten that bad yet, but he's bad enough that he's costing his team games. It can't be very much fun to watch if you're a Devils fan.

At some point either Marty will realize it's finally time to quit, or the Devils will have to decide to prioritize winning games over giving significant playing time to a below-average goaltender based on his past performance.

In the end 2 points is 2 points. Game means no more than that. Sucks to dig an even bigger hole in our division.

In his defense he missed 10+ games that Hedberg started every single one and lost all of them. We were 10-1-2 or something very close to that with both Marty and Kovy in the line up they both missed 10+ games in a 48 game season.

Well, four points from Rags and Montreal for top wild card spot, and one from third, CBJ, and a wild card spot, Det, as of right now, but Det plays tonight.

I don't think so. You guys were not a very good team when both Nash and Lundqvist had been struggling.

The D was a disaster tonight can we PLEASE use this as an opportunity to rescue Larsson from Albany and get Merrill back in the lineup? Marty was BAD but at the same time there were seemingly like six three-on-ones in the second period.

Salvador: Horrible, doesn't lead by example, doesn't play well, doesn't do anything.

A-Train: Honestly has had some moments of solid playing this year, but not consistent

Harrold: AHL defender.

Fayne: I know some people here like him, but I always feel he is at his best a very average player, he doesn't do anything for me, is just kind of there.

AT LEAST Zidlicky puts up some numbers. Merrill has been generally very good this year especially for a rookie. Larsson was playing great before he got injured. What the hell is he still doing in the AHL? I'm very confused about the whole thing.

Yeah every time we have a chance to make a move in the standings they let us down as usual.
The Rags speed killed us for sure, we looked like we were skating in mud most of the game.
And what more can i say about our beloved captain Mr. Softee, other than he sucks even more than i thought. Everything about this guy is soft including his weak sauce shot.
You know i wouldn't be opposed at putting Zid on the wing of the top line for a game or two.
I hope we have no more games on NBC i can't stand the buffoons they have doing the games; i sure missed Chico today!
