Let's put it this way, I'll take this Foley over plenty of other broadcasters, plenty of whom are at the national level (Hughson, etc.). He's not as good as he used to be though.
And to me, it feels like the Foley and Olcyzk combo has just been producing progressively worse broadcasts each year.
Say what you will about Konroyd, but when he's on with Foley, Pat does a much better job and doesn't resort to yucking it up the whole damn game like he does when "Edzo" is in the booth with him.
Olcyzk should stick to the national broadcast with his friends Mike and Pierre. - prd797
I do prefer Konroyd, by far. Pat even admits he doesn't call the action the same way he used to. He says when he was simulcasting TV and radio at the same time he felt more of a need to describe everything going on, but now that he's TV only he says he doesn't feel the urgency to be as on top of things descriptively with his narrative. |

Daryl Reogh for Dallas Stars and the Sharks team with Drew Remenda are two rather enjoyable. Even predators guys are solid... - TrueGrit
I really like Reaugh and Remenda quite a lot. I like Bob Miller and Sam Rosen as well. Any broadcaster that doesn't rely on catchphrases as crutches (as John Forslund for the Hurricanes does) generally can't do too bad in my book.
My sh*t list: Wild play-by-play, Jim Hughson's monotone and his Vancouver pom-pom's, Daniels & Mickey Redmond , The BJ broadcasters, Anaheim broadcasters and Panthers broadcasters. The play-by-play for the Flames is pretty annoying too. |

My weekends were usually eating McDonalds while watching Fat albert. and a lot of AWA wrestling with the classics: Richard the bruiser and the Crusher. Yukon Moose Cholak. There was always a commercial they did locally I cant remember what for, though? Used car lot? - tomcat24
did anyone catch Ed mentioning "Yukon Moose Cholak" ? must've been reading the board.

Makes sense.
The kid in me screams every time I mute a Foley broadcast, he was obviously great in his first stint as a Hawk broadcaster, I wouldn't miss a minute if I could help it, whether on radio or TV.
But Olcyzk's long overstayed his welcome doing cameos on the Hawks broadcast, and my patience with his crap has reached an all-time minimum. He's gotten very close to joining Pierre in being subjected to the automatic mute every time a word is uttered.
Konroyd evens Foley out, but I wonder if Troy Murray might move to TV to partner with Foley if it was offered. I feel like Murray's been very solid with John on the radiocast whenever I've listened in. Or hell, just move the both of 'em to TV when Foley decides to retire. |

Some of us aren't as old as you are Bows. We can multitask and pay attention to both parts of the broadcast |

no I missed it. But there is no denying how big the Moose or the AWA was in Chicago back in the 70's and even before. - tomcat24
Bowling was huge too - the Classic League, Carmen Salvino, Faetz-Nissan (or something like that), Whispering Joe Wilson (who also did Cubs games on TV for a while). |

yeah no doubt! my parents grew up in his neighborhood. i never really heard him referred to by the "yukon" part. always just moose. that's why it really seemed noticable(from reading your post last night) and why i pointed it out. |
