Hmmm...

Schenn and Streit are the apples (turnovers)

Grossmann and Meszaros are the pears (A pear of stiffs)

Coburn''s nose is a zucchini.... Oh that's a vegetable.

How am I doing?

Curious because hockey's future has him listed as a B for probability for success like laughton

Players can be very successful even if they're at different roles. Sidney Crosby and Patrice Bergeron are both very successful, even though they play very different roles. With all due respect to Bergeron, if Crosby was putting up 65 points, he wouldn't be as successful, because he was projected as a perennial Art Ross contender.

Thinking back, I can't remember the last really good year of Free Agents. I'm talking about a year that a ton of A+ talent was available. I wonder what the best 5 UFA years were in the NHL....

Just because I am bored, and I've been working too hard lately. Schenn, Schenn, and Simmonds for Buff and Kane. Sign Markov, resign Mez.

FORWARDS
Evander Kane ($5.250m) / Claude Giroux ($8.275m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.250m)
Scott Hartnell ($4.750m) / Vincent Lecavalier ($4.500m) / Jason Akeson ($0.715m)
Michael Raffl ($1.000m) / Sean Couturier ($1.750m) / Matt Read ($3.625m)
Nick Cousins ($0.812m) / Scott Laughton ($0.894m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.750m)

DEFENSEMEN
Dustin Byfuglien ($5.200m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m) / Andrei Markov ($6.550m)
Mark Streit ($5.250m) / Andrej Meszaros ($2.000m)

GOALTENDERS
Steve Mason ($4.100m)
Cal Heeter ($0.874m)

CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $2,555,042

Line 1 would kill it offensively. Line 2 would have good production, depending on how Akeson clicks. Line 3 would be a great shut-down line that can still contribute, and line 4 can still contribute but would destroy bodies.... The defense looks like a perfect balance of puck moves and shutdown guys..

PP1
Hartnell-Giroux-Kane
Buff-Markov

PP2
Read-Lecavalier-Voracek
Streit-Meszaros

PK1
Read-Couturier
Grossman-Coburn

PK2
Raffl-Giroux
Markov-Meszaros

PK3
Cousins-Laughton

Alright, I got ya beat

trade both Schenns, Voracek, Grossmann, and a pick for Weber and Craig Smith
sign Girardi for $5-5.5
Give some 4th line spots to youth and open a couple spots on D for youth. Mez has been awesome recently but still probably shouldn't be resigned for any substantial amount.
And after that we still have a comfortable amount of space to work with.

Yeah, but they have Cousins topping out as a league-average 2nd-line forward 7.0, and Laughton possibly pushing into top-line potential 7.5. B means they probably hit their potential, maybe miss by one level. So by their measure, Cousins is at least a 3rd-line NHL forward, Laughton at least a 2nd/3rd line forward.

2007 had Drury, Briere, and Gomez who were all, at the time, big names.
2008 had Campbell, Hossa, and good Redden
2009 only really had Hossa and Gaborik

Last few years haven't been any better.

Honestly, we could over-analyze the current team until our sperm turn to ashes.

Analyze the system, analyze the coach, the effort, all that. Comes down to the fact that more often than naught, Team A beats team B, because team A has better players.

The offensive side has room to grow and improve in terms of the players on the hand. That defense is as good as its going get.

There is your issue, slapping you in the face like a wet hot dog.

Really cant wait to the deadline this year. See TSN sitting on their ass all day, when it doesn't seem like any moves will really be made.

This is true, but the question is, what can team B do to become better than team A? That is what we are anal-izing.

Is there anything that can be done this year... I dont think so. I think what you do is make moves to set yourself up for a big offseason and being ready to become better next year.

Whether its trading for Buff, Subban, or some other top d-man, or getting a sniper in here.

One of the problems in the NHL is the point system. It allows almost every team to stay in the race. Who is definitely out of it? Sabers, Panthers, Oilers and Flames. Those are your sellers. How many veteran names are coveted from those teams?

I think the key question is, did Mason leave any space on his mask so any rotting corpses Holmgren acquires at the deadline can be painted on.

nobody enjoys having their words turned around, especially in a churlish, sarcastic manner. my views of this team, and their ability to win a championship as currently built, are pretty consistent with most of what i read on here. the really suck at some point during most games and often for the majority of a game. i think they need to so some different stuff than they've been doing. if you disagree that's great; try offering an opinion about how you think they should fix the problem

I actually like Fiddler for what its worth, and have been trying to keep a bit of an eye on Camel toe in Calgary as a possible FA target and winger for Giroux next year. I may have been too optimistic.

Lets get crazy. Say this team goes on to win the cup this season, after Giroux, Timonen and Mason, who is next in next to hold the cup?

"geek is cool" is not a phase. Its an age. Geeks are not cool until after college... then we make the money and become cool.

I'd say Vinny. It would give him the opportunity to celebrate after being bought out.

Things have actually changed a bit. Geeks no longer stay inside and read all the time. Geeks spend their lives on the computer playing games that provide no educational purpose at all. In my graduating class, the smartest kids were also the more popular crowd.
