Lost in all this is another blown lead late. Great call having your 4th line with nelson instead of mcdonald in the last 40 seconds of the game. No goalie plus terrible coach=disaster - Vukota
The best was him having Regin, Bailey and Nielsen out there with 2 mins left after the game they had(it was deplorable)then telling the players to ice the puck. Worst coach this team has ever had. I'll keep saying it till he's fired. |

This said, if Poulin didn't blow, we'd have won that game, 3-1. All those great saves don't make up for the two sh*t goals he gives up every night. I think they scored that first one from the parking lot. - dcb1
Honestly don't want to get in a debate here but if Poulin didn't make 5 or 6 incredible saves we would have never made it to overtime. Our defense is disgusting. Bailey, AMAC, Carkner, and Regin should never see the ice again just not to subject the fan base to anymore of their play. Bailey honestly just doesn't give a fack anymore. Guy is over thinking/not thinking at all every time he's out there. AMAC is facking brutal. |

Cpt...you were at the game but right before the opening faceoff the had the cold hard facts:
St. Louis was + 57 in goal difference and the Islanders are -24...that tells it all..a good GM would have gotten a few defensemen who can play defense and a goaltender....this all on the GM... |

If he can make two Brodeur level reflex saves in tight, then he should be able to get his glove off his hip before a puck shot from the blue line with no screen hits the twine and rolls halfway back to center ice. That said, you won't get any argument from me about the defense also being crap. Whoever the f**k is teaching them to block shots by going down on one knee and kicking a leg out needs to be shot, since no one ever seems to get fired. Stack the shin guards, lay out and eat the puck. If that had happened on the third St. Louis goal, there would have been no OT. |

No argument here on that. Every game i watch it's the same guys making the same mistakes and Capuano constantly throws these same players onto the ice in the same situations. AMAC should not be out there with two minutes left? Regin and Bailey should not be out there either. It is facking mind boggling who this happens more often that not and Capuano does it again? I can't even wrap my brain around it? |

I was at the game. Told my buddy lets get out of here and beat the traffic after watching the replay on the score board. He's like, "maybe we should stay just in case?". I said , "you're right God and Toronto hate the NY Islanders." After the call he just turned and looked at me. - Cptmjl

If this was Pittsburgh they wouldn't have reviewed it...what Islanders should have done was when Vanek scored, they should went to the dressing room and not come back to the ice... |

I was at the game today. Sitting in the 200s at the end of the ice behind the net into which the goal that wasn't was scored. The isles got hosed. Completely jobbed by Toronto. What the NHL officials in Toronto did to the Isles today was borderline criminal. No way anybody with two objective working eyes could watch that goal and say Vanek made a distinct kicking motion. Embarrassing. |

Here's the thing- even if you argue he redirected it on purpose, what you're arguing is that he was moving to get in position for a rebound, away from the net, got kicked by Steen's skate, pushed into the goalie, turned his foot on purpose, and redirected it into the net, all in about 2/10 of a second. No matter how good of an athlete you are, if your eyes sent information to your brain, which your body processed that quickly, you'd be able to avoid bullets. Some people need to realize that the replay is in super slow motion. |

You're allowed to redirect it on purpose though, so that part's a moot point.
49.2 Goals - Kicking the puck shall be permitted in all zones. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who uses a distinct kicking motion to propel the puck into the net. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks a puck that deflects into the net off any player, goalkeeper or official.
A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking player’s skate who does not use a distinct kicking motion is a legitimate goal. A puck that is directed into the net by an attacking player’s skate shall be a legitimate goal as long as no distinct kicking motion is evident. |

They should just make it illegal for the puck to go in off of a skate period, like it used to be...now it's just yet another in a long line of rules that comes down to controversial judgment calls. Don't even get me started on the "when the ref intended to blow the whistle" nonsense. |
