I was looking at Cap Geek and alot of the playoff teams are up against the cap. So unless there is a matching salary swap, I think Vanek probably won't be traded at the deadline...

If Detroit was scouting A Mac we can cross them off our list.

Can't sell MacDonald. Can we donate him? Maybe Wang could get a nice tax write-off.

Poulin once again blows its. I hope it's becoming more and more clear. In fact. I hate to say this guys goaltending might be in par with Dp. And dp had 3 hip and knee surgeries.

Nabby couldn't come back fast enough. The reality is with nabby we would have won last night and in Philly.

How can one expect Isles to score 4 goals or more every night b/c his guy Poulin can't keep a game below 3gaa at the minimum.

If Poulin in net tomorrow I put zero chance we win against blues. They'll score 10 on him.

I have a hard time believing anyone is interested in a Mac. The guy is so blatantly bad do these other teams not see this? Maybe as a depth defenseman due to his tiny cap hit for a team making a push? I can see someone doing that as a seventh d man but anything else im having a hard time believing.

I think the Isles could make a play for Meszaros. Not sure what are Philly's needs though and what he would cost. Its a question whether the management has confidence that they have a shot at #8 spot. If they do they need to make a G addition as well. Interesting to see if Ducks and Blues would be willing to trade Hiller or Halak at this point.

Whatever moves they make if any wont be stop gaps. I think they'd make a play for a player that would be here after this season. Again, if they do anything.

The Ducks made it pretty clear that Hiller isn't going anywhere. Halak on the other hand is intruiging, but yet another injury prone goalie. At this stage, I'd rather we give Nilsson a couple of starts and see if he can build on things before going back to a Nabby/Poulin tandem again.

idk? I know you and others are high on Nilsson but I just dont see it? I know ive only seen a limited amount of games with him but I have very little faith in him being anything. I know hes young and his game will get better (should) but from what ive witnessed im not overly impressed. There are plauers you need to see a larger body of work I get it but I dont think future starter when I watch him play. Time for Snow to get a real starter in here.

Way too early to call on him. He's essentially lost two developmental seasons to injury and illness so he has a ways to go, but he has the size and talent to be an elite goaltender. His original goalie coach, who was also Henrik's coach, felt he had the potential to be BETTER than Henrik. My only concern is once again whether the Isles themselves are capable of developing goalies. So far we've had a #1 overall pick, elite athelete in DP who never developed into anything more than a bad joke. A goalie in Poulin who was championed by none other than Patrick Roy. And now a guy who has been compared to Lundqvist. It's my confidence in the developmental staff that worries me.

That said, I see things in Nilsson's game that need developing but like Poulin, I think we'll have no idea what type of goalie he can be until he's given time to perform at this level.

You mean Andrew? The second goal by Crosby was a perfect example of how poor Amac's instincts are...he not only let Crosby walk into the crease, but actually appeared to step out of his way!

Not to be a douche but why would you think an Islander fan would want to go to a Rangers/Devils game?

You make a great point keaner. Can the Isles develop these goalies along with the other young players? Some young players have the talent even without great coaching while other players need the coaching.

I agree with him on that point,. I have zero faith in our development of young players.

Its amazing how we can play up to the battle level of some of the Elite teams, but then to tail off as the game goes on. Besides Pitt being so dam talented and isles actually being competitive against them shows that we are just some pieces away of being in their league.
Our D is extremely bad, there's no denying it. Martinek had no business being dressed last night or any other night going forward. Amac needs to be traded asap, and anyone except Hamonic & DeHaan & besides the prospects, the rest of this D should be replaced.
Even tho Poulin is a kid and rookie, he played decent enough for this team to win, its just unfortunate that the D is horrendous that Pitt players had their way.

100000% agree. They are the only ones that should be left after this season.
