I think the rebuild is behind, but only by a year. We are better off trying to get solid pieces at free agency the next 2 summers and then making a push. We don't have the depth in assets to stock up through trades,yet.

what you suggested with trading down is the only idea i would consider for edm. otherwise to completely give up a 1st round pick for a d-man signed to only 2-3 years is a loss.
