only way the return could have been bigger is if the rangers had packaged mdz with somebody. i guess the rangers get a little tougher with klein, but it's probably a lateral move when all is said and done.

Slightly less than lateral

It's been time for like 10 years dude. It's never gonna happen. Dolan said he's got the job for life, which means he's gonna live to be like 120.

From here it looks like a good trade for you guys. MDZ had some defensive issues and you get from what I'm getting at least a solid stay at home guy. I'd be happy if i were a ranger fan.

Maybe I am wrong, but I think there is still such huge potential for DZ, I honestly don't know much about Klein. I guess we will see over the next few games. But I personally wouldn't have made this trade.

Liked what I've seen in small spurts of Kline but no way is this a fair trade. I've always been a DZ fan & supporter, his time ran out here & needed a new team. He is gonna burn us I'm afraid when all is said & done.

That being said, Kline is responsible, tough (which we needed more of on the blueline) & signed to a good long fair deal. Lets see what happens.

Seems to me that the Rangers got the solid righthanded defensive, defensemen who can kill penalties, block shots, and gives them some contract cost certainty, and the Preds got the engimatic young defensemen with more upside.

With the above said, I think the Preds have the much greater potential to win the deal, and I hope that the Rangers don't regret this in a few years.

Clearly, MDZ days as a Ranger were done. This trade is not be a huge surprise to anyone paying attention. They got a RH shot, who plays sound if not spectacular defense, and gives them both protection against Stralman leaving, while providing a nice cap hit.

Sure, there will be an uptick in DZ play over the next few weeks, that always happens when a player needs a fresh start. But, don't worry he's not going to turn into Bobby Orr.

Those are definitely the positives of this trade. I just still think DZ is going to be really good, he is still so young for a D man.

I definitely see this trade burning us in the future. I don't care for it, never would have made it but all I can do now is support Klein and hope he helps us out. I like how he handled himself in that fight even though he doesn't do it much.

So Rick Nash is telling those Olympic critics to shove it. Always was a Nash fan.

That's a weird trade IMO. I figured they were going to trade MDZ for a forward that has similar potential.

Jan Levine: Michael Del Zotto Traded to Nashville for Kevin Klein
Fanbase's favorite whipping boy has been dealt

- airjan23

Not a bad deal, and Klein has often been underrated playing with Weber, Josi, Jones and recently Suter. He is a solid all around dman.

Nashville though has a track record of getting all there is to get from their dmen (its been a strength of Trotz from day 1) so this deal could end up haunting the Rangers if MDZ is able to fulfill his potential in Music City.

Said it before, Pete, Jimbo & Glen are my favorite posters to read they're thoughts/opinions on all things Rangers. Jimmy def has the anger issues of those 3.

well, i hope we're ready to see MDZ absolutely blossom and turn into one of the top 20 offensive dmen in the league over the next few years.
- rangerdanger94

Hahaha, good one. Del Zotto will likely turn it around but his ceiling is second pair defenseman, at best.

I am fully on board with this trade. Klein is have a bad season but he is a solid second or third pair defender.

Those that thought Del Zotto could fetch the Rangers more than what he actually did were straight up delusional.

I wont jump to any conclusions yet, till I see this Klein play for a bit. I personally don't like it, but Oldschool brought up some good points about cap hit, and him being a righty that I didn't think about. We shall see.
