I thought Miller was in between 10-20 for some reason.

Interestingly, Brandon Saad went #43 in the #2 round to the Hawks in 2011.

I still cant believe Lundqvist was 7th round in the 200's. That just boggles my mind, that one of the top 3 goalies in the NHL for the last 5 years was that late.

definitely true, and definitely gives you a clear indication what they think of McIlrath now if they do that
- jimbro83

To a point, I can see what you mean. Though, with the injuries McIlrath had the past two seasons (knee injuries ) it can give him a little more time to tune his game in the minors; which may not be such a bad thing since Staal only has one more season left on his contract.

I think you find that phenomenon with goalies much more than with position players.

The Rangers have done very well over recent years post-1st round. Callahan was a fourth rounder. Dubinsky, Anismov, Stepan and Sauer were second rounders. Hagelin was a 6th rounder, and of course, Lundqvist.

That is a very good post-1st round success rate.

That is definetely true, unless your Detroit. It is amazing how many superstar/hall of fame quality players they've found in the later rounds.

Absolutely. I wonder if they were asked when he was drafted what they realistically thought his ceiling was. I highly doubt it was the success he has had, but they obviously saw something, and thank god for that. Couldn't imagine what the team make up would have been had he not been drafted.

BTW, Klein was a teammate of both Callahan and Girardi on the championship junior team in Guelph in 2004.

I love it Oldschool, you are going all Pierre MacGuire on us. I thought that was my job.

I think you look at Conor Allen and even Brady Skjei at this point with much more potential to replacing Staal if he leaves, since they are both left handed defensemen like he is.

I predict Skjei will leave school after 3 years like McDonagh, Gardiner and Justin Schultz did and be part of Rangers training camp in 2015

Now all of sudden the Rangers blue line doesn't have the depth we though it did. I hope either Calle Andersson or Mcilrath can make the jump soon.

And right now for future blueline im sure you have Skjei ahead of McI correct? I just don't see how McI makes this team

Does anyone know the name of a D prospect we had a couple years ago. A lot of people were pretty high on him, I believe he was Russian, hit everything in sight, and people were comparing him to Kaspariatis? Cant remember for the life of me what his name was, and what happened to him.

Thinking about it more, Jim is right. I think the key here Is if Klein improves Moore's play and reach his potential its a huge win. Addition by subtraction, Moore may step into that role we though DZ would and be our offensive blue liner now that he can not grip his stick so much having Klein as a partner and not DZ.

I know its not the NHL but playing defense my whole life, your game totally changes if your playing with a partner who is a defensive liability. You can't play your game. Hopefully, this lets John Moore be John Moore Really excited by that possibility.

As a fan base we though the blue line was a position of strength. Now MDZ is gone, in return they got a bottom pair D-man who's almost 30. Girardi and Stralman are still unsigned. Mcilrath's future is up in the air. Clear enough now?

Pashnin. Still in the KHL, #'s are not flattering.

He's been suspended twice this season for checks to the head. Total amounts to 13 games.

Nothing has changed on the current roster with the trade. 29 is NOT old and Klein plays 20 minutes a game. How is that bottom paired? KK may bump Stralman down, or at the very elast, make Moore more comfortable and improve his overall game; thus making MDZ expendable.
