Part of the process of hiring a new coach, is for him to tinker the roster to his liking. Del Zotto wasn't in the long term plans as long as AV was here. I want to see Klein play a bit before saying the Rangers won or lost anything. Klein is signed long term for a friendly cap hit, seems nice to me though. The defense seems more in line now with the left-right depth. Time to go to work. |

We'll see, I too am liking it as I hear more about Kline. Its not really Kline I'm upset about. It's that IF DZ becomes what we all think he can, we lose this trade straight up, no doubt. - B2B76
With NBC airing all of the playoff games, I saw a bunch of Klein the season before last ... I thought he looked good (& not just the mohawk ) |

Am I happy with this? Im neither here nor there, with DZ's stock plummeting at such an alarming rate... Im surprised we got an NHL player in return. I was expecting to get back a mid level pick or some sort of mid level prospect for him.
If trading DZ turns Moore into a 40+ point defenseman because of Klein's presence as a defensive defenseman allowing Moore to play more with the puck instead of covering for DZ, I think its fine. |

So I see he'll be wearing #8, not too many Rangers I can think of who've worn that #. Didn't Powe most recently wear that #? Isn't he still part of the organization? Obviously not in the long range plans. |

Im with you on this. Lets see how he does.
The one thing is, MDZ needed to go, for his own sake. I hope he does well with the preds. Hes a good dude and i feel he always got an unfair shake from us Ranger fans. |

We Ranger fans are not your average fans, we know about hockey. Maybe he didnt get a fair shake, but heres the thing... where has he been? If youre going to be mediocre on defense, be productive at what youre good at... offense, and hes not doing that either. He has zero slapshot from the point, Ive never seen a defenseman take more wrist shots from the blue line than him. And he blunders on defense more than most... which gets brutally expsoed by us because we start noticing it more and more and watch him with a microscope. |

No more over the top anger from Ranger fans towards the kid. I mean poor guy got pummeled on twitter after having hernia surgery. |

Best Ranger to wear #8, was Steve Vickers, a power forward with great hands and scoring touch, and BTW no one messed with him. |

It was that breakout Rookie season that got us so pumped up that when he declined in yr 2, it began. Then after a bounce back yr 2 yrs ago he really declined last yr & just has not been able to get "IT" back. Fresh start could do wonders for him. But he's not our problem anymore, lets go Kevin Kline. |

I am too young to have seen him play but my Uncle LOVED Vickers.
I remember Pat Flatley in his 1 yr as a Ranger wearing #8, also Mihael Grosek, but not many I can recall wore that #.
Also Darren Turcotte. |

This year i agree, not much to show at all. I think it had to do with him switching sides on the point. But even in years past, he always seemed to be the scapegoat. Im not making excuses for him, just hope he can get his game back. |

I still don't think he was half as bad as his continual whipping boy status would have everyone believe. |

Vickers is just the type of forward we can use now, big, tough and with hands from the dots in, perfect for the playoff run. |

Yeah, some of the sh1t said about him was brutal. I'm happy we seem to have more balance after I learned more about Klein, but a lot of fans were just d1ckheads who used him as an outlet, instead of putting the blame on the team as a whole. |

i see it as a cumulative effect ... it only needs to start with one or two comments, then we look for the mistakes, then there are more comments, etc, etc ...
I feel sorry for the next player elected to the "I can't do anything right" pedestal |

Yeah, but we definitely know it will be a D man who ever it is. And I have no problem criticizing a players play, and I never saw anything on these boards about DZ that was so over the top, but a lot of Rangers fans on other sites, or twitter like
B2B pointed out, were just so over the top, bordering on mental illness. |
