How did the refs not call a penalty on that slash?

http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26353

Rule 61 Slashing:

61.3 Major Penalty - A major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee based on the severity of the contact, shall be imposed on a player who slashes an opponent. When injury occurs, a major penalty must be assessed under this rule (see 61.5).

Refs probably didn't see the play? ( I did not see the game so I'm not sure of the circumstance).

Edit: Thanks for the video. Yeah there was a ref standing there, should of been a minor penalty for sure.

Del Zotto to NSH, per Bob McKenzie. my gaude
- feelingkettle

Weber, Jones, Josi, Ellis... and now Del Zotto? That's a hell of a top-5.

(Kevin Klein? What were the Rangers thinking... )

Gotta hand it to Panaccio, if nothing else he seems to has his finger on the pulse of the team.

Looks like the ref that was in that zone was not at an optimal angle to see it.

It's an obvious slash and should have been called.

That they wanted a solid, second pairing defenseman who's right handed and signed at a low cap hit for four more seasons.

That's because Jake didn't stop, drop, and roll around on the ice like he was shot.

23-year-old MDZ is a hell of a steep price to pay for a 4-5 guy who just turned 29, IMO.

They didn't see it. Had it been called, it would have been a 2-min slash. You only ever seen majors on two-handers with a wind-up or a big chop.

The one-handed slash was screened from view of the referee low in offense zone, where at most, it may have looked like stick-to-stick contact. The linesman was tracking the puck.

The result of the play was unfortunate.

I guess if they had gotten better offers for him they would have taken them instead.

At that price we should have moved Grossmann and a mid round pick for him.

Klein is a better skater than Grossmann and they wanted a right hander.
