it hasnt.. because no one has pushed it too far... why.. cause they know exactly who is sitting on that bench.

orr is a deterrent.. you choose not to validate it.. fine. doesnt make you right.

No, because Orr has not, ever in his Leafs career...and I am looking at his (frank)ing Hockeyfights card for his career, fought anybody not known as a fighter other than a bout with a dude named Shaone Morrisson in 2010...

Frazer McLaren has fought one non-fighter...Josh (frank)ing Gorges.

This myth that tough guys will suddenly run down and pummel star players or cheap shotters in retaliation is a myth. It doesn't happen. That's what the cheap shotters do in response to that, a goon goes out, throws his fists at another teams lame goon and then that's the end. The real physical players that actually play the minutes to have emotions and battles bring the actual rivalry, not this fake staged WWF ripoff like Carkner vs Orr 7.0 Revenge of the meathead.

when did i ever claim they would pummel star players?

i didnt.. thats when.

they keep over exuberant kids.. and 3rd and 4th liners from picking on their top line guys

when it comes to top 6 pests the skill guys are on their own

its not black and white french.. as with most things it falls in the grey area. they arent there to police everyone.. just the bottom end guys.

Then why do the two best teams in the NHL right now not employ them? That's a false equivalency.

of all the canadian players under 30, NOBODY has more international experience than Nash.

but you guys all screamed about how he sucked even tho he was returning from injury lol

(frank) am i glad people who know what they're doing picked the team

- Dozzer

yeah, well i still dont think he should have been picked.... i still predict that like in Vancouver and his 2 nhl playoff appearances, he disappears when the games get bigger.

Chicago has one middleweight guy who can still put the puck in the net. Bollig
They seem to be doing fine

Anaheim got rid of their goons, and they are doing just fine.

St Louis doesn't employ any goons, and they're doing .. fine.

Seems like most successful teams are losing the goons for 4th liners that can chip in pucks, be feisty, and throw fists only if need be. Orr and McLaren don't fit that model.

In his 3 minutes of play, Orr TAKES more penalties than he draws, and is often found out of position and unable to keep up with the play

I sure as poop didn't see that coming last night. A pleasant surprise.

I thought the 4th line played well with their limited minutes. I was impressed by both Ashton and Bodie's games.

Nice to see the defense contributing with some scoring too! Not sure wtf Gardiner was thinking on that 2nd goal.

Mackinnon is a beauty.

Ya...your selective mammaries are intriguing, those 2005-2008 teams with Wade Belak sure were (frank)ing HARD to play against...what with the ultra toughness fighting dude out there for 3 minutes!!

Or hey! Wilson employed the fighter Jamal Mayers, tough veteran presence, TOUGH GUY! Oh right. Fighting doesn't do poop (frank) all when your team is garbage incarnate that can't stop a beach-ball from centre ice. BUT HEY WE HAD HOLLWEG! You know, that other fighting cheap shot goon! He was soooo tough to play against. No wait, there was Rosehill, the guy many wanted over Orr because Orr sucked, no wait! He was soooo tough to play against that he changed the whole spectrum of the team in 3 minutes flat.

WAIT HOLY (frank)! This team had BRAD MAY, the original goon that plays, wait, wait what? Not hard to play against because they don't do anything but stand around for 3 minutes and get beat to the puck continually? No?

Or hey, what about that year Orr was punching and toughing it up like the big tough guy he was...all the way to an easy to play against 29 PLACE FINISH! TOOOOOUGHGHHGH

What about TOUGH GUY Garnet Exelby? Ya he was a BEAST! Tough guy tough guy. Couldn't play hockey but (frank) did anybody mess with the Leafs then? Yes...but Orr was there too! Oh poop...they still (frank)ing blew...weird, they were so tough.

- AdamFrench

It wasn't a lack of toughness that kept those teams out of the playoffs it was their inability to win a game in a shootout. Also Raycroft, Toskala and Gustavsson letting a terrible goal in with 3 minutes to go in a 2-2 game.

does hockeyfights.com list the non-tough guys that have been face-washed, punched in the head after a whistle, a jersey tug or spoken to by Orr if they keep running around?
tough guys go out and tell it like it is.... tough guys on the other team step in to protect the rat.... when the rat gets his teammate's face punched in by Orr... he thinks twice... it's called deterrent...

also, can you answer why 800 NHLPA members feel differently than you? you know the guys that stand up on the bench and bang their stick in appreciation?

lets see how that works out come playoff time

last year the hawks had carcillo.. and he was plunked into the lineup whenever a team got a little too aggressive.

my guess is both anaheim and chicago pick up an enforcer at the deadline.. they use them.. just not in a regular role.. if the opposition in the post season starts playing rough.. bam.. tough guy goes in.

They must have passed over the recent Stanley Cup winners in that poll, you know, the teams that employ functional toughness...functional being the key word.

Colton Orr was brought in because the Leafs got the poop beat out of them one night in Boston. Lost the gm like 7-2, lost every fight and Lucic beat the livin poop out of Komisarek for like the 3rd time.
Next season Colton Orr fed Lucic in the and since that gm the Bruins physical dominance of the Leafs has diminished.. It's a fact.
