don't do that..
they were just about to tell us how societies evolution with regards to violence has proven acceptance because you can see someone getting shot in a movie.
I was dying to see the result of that one.. - joel878
Actually that wasnt the proof....just a very small example......used as an aside.

I have no optimism left friend lol. I'm just assuming at this point that nothing will get any better any time soon. that way if it does, I'll be pleasantly surprised. - sanfordnson
Even with the Pens it got worse before it got better.
Getting Ekblad and Nurse, I think the d would look real stellar going forward.
Finding a goalie is the tricky part. Not even sure who to suggest. |

do you seem to forget how we got on this
you suggested the leafs dump our goons asap because the nhl is evolving. i asked how you knew anything about winning. You suggested klowe knew how to win.
to which i said, he won when goons were on the roster. - IRON.MAIDEN
I was just picking dozzers ass. the Klowe thing was a direct quote from Klowe, and I was using it as a joke. Mocking Lowe, like we all do. |

that katz letter would be concerning if I was an oil fan.
I don't think growing that core is the answer, some retooling would seem more adequate.
i'd keep hall, and 1 of nuge, eberle.. and start shaking up the rest. eberle and this years first is a big trade chip as is. |

Lets not forget your starting goalie was all hopped up on the Cola.....Which is a performance enhancing drug when used properly. |

I didnt say it currently was. Just get annoyed when fans come here and play the 2 face "i just wanna talk hockey" then talk poop in other rooms about how much we suck. - IRON.MAIDEN
in fairness to sanford.. he isnt just trashing orr and mcClaren.. he is trashing the idea of the goon league wide |

Good game last night. It's been a while since we could watch this team and actually be confident that as soon as somebody has the puck a scoring chance is coming. Nice to see. |

True, I'm also trying to think of a fight though were Bodie didn't get fed. At least he throws some bombs |

I backread through the convo, I do agree, we should get rid of our current goon. Never said we shouldn't employ one. Orr is done. Not sure about McLaren. Bodie can do the job. Don't know how tough or how good Staubitz is. Since Clarkson can't seem to score, maybe he can drop the gloves more. - mykokes
Why not just do what they have been doing the past few games...dress Orr or McLaren..send them out for the odd shift, especially if the game is getting intense. Otherwise double shift Kessel, Lupul, Raymond or Kuli. Seems to be working ok. This way you still have the protection of the fighter if needed, but give the 4th line some extra skill/speed at other times. |

Not trashing, I just think with the direction the NHL, the BOG and even the NHLPA have taken, that fighting itself is on borrowed time and if fighting goes the way of the Dodo the Orrs, Gazdics, Parros', etc. will be gone. |

exactly.... punching bags
there is a difference between a punching bag and an enforcer.
i was simply going to point out that when the leafs were poop and getting beat up all the time, finally they went out and got orr..... things didnt change over night. it took orr sometime to get teams convinced that they werent going to push us around anymore. now that is in place, he doesnt fight.
but going back, the original argument was that the goon era is over and the Orr's are not needed anymore. there is a difference in saying the leafs don't need Orr, versus the leafs dont need the Orr type. |

Hall, Nuge and Eberle are all keepers in my view. I wouldn't write off Yak either. I know this year has been a disaster for him, but his talent is unreal. There's a reason we wanted to fail for nail. And unlike the last russian bust, Nail has performed at the NHL level (leading NHL rookies in goals).
Schultz and Nurse on the backend are keepers.....Klefbom will be steady. Add in Ekblad.
The type of guys Edmonton needs are Downie's and Otts up front. On d, they need a Willie Mitchell.....
In goal, they need a miracle. |

Yup. You Canadians have it all wrong. Toe to toe. You are mental. Find the nearest object, be it a plastic chair or bottle and launch away. |

I think he fought John Erskine about a week ago.
I only point it out because it's the type of wiener move you usually make. - tmlfan17
Right - I'm one of the big hair-splitters on here. Good one. I don't recall ever seeing your handle before, but it's good to know I have admirers.
I stand corrected - Orr has fought once in the past 7 weeks. Better? |
