Gazdic went toe to toe with Looch last game against Boston. If you think a lack of goons is one of Edmonton's big issues then I won't continue this discussion. There are 100x more important things.
- sanfordnson

I'm pretty sure if you could hand pick 2 guys from the 80's Oilers to play now in their prime and rescue the franchise it would be Semenko and McSorley.

they've been suffering in essentially every single department that equals success for a hockey team.. forget the lack of goaltending, porous defense, suspect offense.. it's the lack of more goons.

call up Macintyre, season saved?

jesus..

I'm going to point more to the absence of D and goaltending over goons.

Don't forget Mclelland. We'd be in a playoff spot right now.

In all seriousness, Ekblad is probably going to fall into your teams lap. Then you move one of the forwards in a deal for a goalie and another d.....I think it'll be a rapid turnaround next season....Nurse should also make the team.

Ok. Let's have a reasonable dialogue. We have Gazdic, who has shown he can go with a guy like Looch. Despite his presence, the Oilers continue to lose horribly. Why?

Yep. I listed a bunch of HOF multiple Cup winners....as GOONS. Seriously dude.

and he forgot Mclelland. But please keep telling all about the team I grew up watching and personally attended the Cup parades of.

- sanfordnson

It doesn't change the fact they were on the team for a reason.

I get it, there is a place for goons in hockey. However, if league discipline was doled out properly it would eliminate it.

So how about Bozak
14 points in 12 games since coming back from injury..

during that time, JVR has 11 points and Kessel has 17 pts.

That's pretty impressive

my point was that when your team won, it enlisted goons.

and now your team cant win poop. No goons enlisted.

that was my point.

do you seem to forget how we got on this

you suggested the leafs dump our goons asap because the nhl is evolving. i asked how you knew anything about winning. You suggested klowe knew how to win.

to which i said, he won when goons were on the roster.

Isn't Boston in the Leafs division......Plus they have Thornton, Chara, Mcquaid, and numerous other players who all the drop the mitts.
Hence Orr, McLaren

I have no optimism left friend lol. I'm just assuming at this point that nothing will get any better any time soon. that way if it does, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I backread through the convo, I do agree, we should get rid of our current goon. Never said we shouldn't employ one. Orr is done. Not sure about McLaren. Bodie can do the job. Don't know how tough or how good Staubitz is. Since Clarkson can't seem to score, maybe he can drop the gloves more.
