Why bother.
Let them go plant some wild orchids and hug a kangaroo.

I have a question about our road record, I heard them say it was even at .500. 10-10-4 is actually 10 wins 14 losses right?
24 pts in 24 games ok i got it - corunnakid

the question you need to ask when it comes to Franson is do you think he is worth 4 million plus?
cause he has arbitration rights this summer.. and based on his point production he will get 4 easy. especially after DP signed for 7. - Dozzer
Franson needs to go.
Phaneuf really needs to go, but he wont..
so Fanson needs to go. |

i thinking fighting still has a role in hockey
there are some flower children around who do not - Dozzer
I'm all for a good bout. In fact, when Frazer McLaren knocked out Dziurznyski and the ACC went silent, I was the jerk who yelled out "you got knocked the F out" (was a little drunk and I feel bad after the fact considering the extent of his injury)
However, I like fighters that can contribute on all levels. Primeau, Domi, Probert, etc. all had seasons with double digit goals. It seems the knew enforcer can't really score goals anymore. If we keep an enforcer on the team, I want an OLD school guy that can contribute more to team |

you are old, and probably have parts starting to sag.
But I'm with you. Brute force/blunt trama is still needed on rosters. |

I think gunner has played well enough to remain on the top pairing...I still think its too early to give up on franson, unless we are getting a Girardi type back.
personally I'd just like them to pick up a steady d-man that can be paired with Rielly/Gardiner. - GardinerExpress
I would prefer not to have him on the top pairing, I think Gunnar would be best on the 2nd line. |

in fairness Carlyle doesnt use the enforcers enough for them to put up any sort of offensive stats.
Domi would get 10-12 minutes a game.. Orr.. gets 3-5. |

Phaneuf really doesn't need to go he just needs another top two dman to be paired with him, which isn't unreasonable |

and it is more than fine to say this.... but the fact is, those guys aren't hanging off trees. so you can only use what is available to you. over time, you'll see more of them developed through juniors... but right now they are few and far between. |

so the link i posted that listed far more than ten wasnt good enough for you?
i'm done with this stupid convo. - Dozzer
I looked at that and looked at who was actually playing and found 10 teams with what I would call enforcers - guys whose only role is to fight.
I am not anti-fighting and I am certainly not anti-tough. I just don't think that having Colton Orr on your team makes you tough or protects your skilled players.
I'm sorry that my having a different opinion is so upsetting. Wanna go? |

For sure.....or another Dman to take some of his mins and pressure off him |

true.... but the argument is.... that when the antics start back up, we should send a chara out to fight. thats what he is best suited for, even though he is quite functional at defence, it'd be much better if he was the functional enforcer in the penalty box. - Rockhead_37
How many Chara's are out there? Even Thorton, who is everybody's poster boy for the quintessential enforcer who can still play. I am sure the Leafs, and every team out there would love to have those guys...the truth is that not many of them exist. So you have to go with the next best thing.
The Leafs especially need an enforcer. Their top 6 guys are smaller skilled less physical players. JVR, Kessel, Bozak, Kadri, Raymond and Lupul are not intimidating anyone in the physical department. Realistically, the Leafs are not going to change that top 6 in any major way anytime soon, so they need the enforcer on the team to keep the other teams honest. |

That Avs team is going to quite good for years to come.
They may need to trade a forward for a high quality D if they cant get one via UFA though. |

I actually thought in that boston series Orr played a good series. Each shift he could pretty much keep up and cleared the zone and dumped it. Even a few shots. I never felt apprehensive when he was on the ice. This year he hasn't been as good admittedly |
