Fight Chara? Is that a real question?

They're both damn good starting points. I think the Avs have more balance in that core; more than just scoring potential.
- 1979AD

Johnson on defense has been very good this year for the Avs.

He's tbe kind of player the Oilers simply do not have on their team and would badly need.

Chris Neil is in double digits minus every year...Orr is a whopping -5 for the leafs through 5 seasons..not to mention Orr makes less than 1/2 Neils salary

A. I was on topic.
B. I wasn't muddying the waters?
C. My point was very clear.

So when I read this "sorry if you cant make your point doing so" it comes across as condecending.

To me.....anyway.

you know those times where you should just drop something?

really? then why do coaches who are actually employed in the NHL put them out there?

fact is french.. its valid.. you just dont like the fact that it is.

- Dozzer

All that would be required is for the NHL to hand out REAL penalties for fighting.

The are goons on my team because you have goons on your team. That is the only reason. The NHL could stop it.

The think it adds entertainment value, and maybe it does, but it is not necessary. Football does just fine without it and that is even more of a physical cheapshot game.

In the two games I've seen him play this year (both vs Leafs) he's been absolutely horrible.

I was really happy to see Reimer play so well tonight last few outings had been rough but today was anything but.
- Yeti1181

Phaneuf was gassed and got caught unable to catch up to the play on the Avs first goal.... shame to, because up to that point Reimer looked like he was going to stop everything.

I thought he fought the puck and rebounds a bit at the outset, but he sure seemed solid.

Shouldn't be any controversy however, they should however not wait so long to get him back in the net. Give Bernier two or three - then go back to Reimer.

I really don't think they can complain about the Hall-RNH parts of their team. At the end of the day they are the best players.

It's what management was done with the supporting cast that is the bigger issue. Like why are Hemsky and Smyth still on this team? How can they hitch there wagon to a glofified AHL goalie (Dubnyk...now Scrivens). And finally....that defense is a mess.

- stormeyAlterEgo

this...they pretty much completly ignored defense while loading up with offense first forwards (Hall,RNH,Yakupov) and passing over guys that could have helped on the defensive side (Landeskog and Murray come to mind)

ILoveLamp already addressed this. Carcillo can actually contribute here and there. He's functional toughness.
- sanfordnson

Sort of the same idea as Thorton.

Maybe Bodie (Brodie?) can develop into a guy like that for the Leafs, or maybe Ashton.

We must have seen the worst two he's played this year. In those two games he made a ranger fraser pairing seem like a dream

Leafs have Clarkson and Gleason as well that don't mind dropping the gloves....plenty of team toughness especially if you remove the guys who can't play the game of hockey.

well we know Orr has only been on for 5 more goals against through 39 games, which is not bad for a goon...we can live with that.

Take George Parros for example -6 through 13 with no points, his line is giving up a goal every 2nd game and they bring no offense to the table...sometimes the numbers dont lie, no one wants to see the plugs a -17

People do drive 150 kph through the city. People also murder, rape, steal and do all sorts of things they arent supposed to do. If Kessel gets a slewfoot and gets hurt, then Orr just pummels him, takes an instigator and a major and likely a suspension, while the other player just gets a couple bruises, thats a trade off most teams will take every time.
- sanfordnson

I would rather see a 20 game suspension.

The problem is that the penalties for taking these liberties are not a deterence.

Again, the NFL cleaned up the hits on the quarterbacks. You know what, the game is just fine.

its easier to compare Hall-Seguin and RNH-Landy considering those were the 1-2 guys in each draft

Surely you don;t believe this. He's not great paired with real NHL dmen. On the Oilers...my god.

Although he would be an upgrade over pretty much everyone we currently have. Why do the Oilers get mentioned everywhere else? Why cant you (frank)s just leave us alone to hate Katz and life in general in peace?

Bodie has been solid just about all year..hard on the forecheck, decent at advancing the puck, not afraid to drop the mitts

Possible, but if it's a 4 minutes a game goon I doubt the other team cares a lot.
