A fight that happened between MTL and BOS? What does that have to do with the Leafs playing with more edge?
Sorry Dozzer, I'm with French on this one. I don't think guys like Orr who don't contribute outside of toughness are doing anything to influence the game. I don't hate Orr, I think occasionally he has a good game where he puts in a good forcheck but not often. I'd rather Ashton there. Why? Because even if he has to fight or stand up for someone (aka get his nose broken) he can also potentially be a threat to chip in a goal. - markmark
yes.. komi was supposed to be the body guard for the leafs.. but he was a shell of a man vs boston.
so boston took liberties. |

do you really think what the leafs need is more scoring?
lets look at this in terms of team wide need - Dozzer
A team wide need is having cavebeasts that are essentially decorations if the other player refuses to drop the gloves? |

Backup goalies, 6/7 defencemen or 4th liners....that's all we fight about here lol

when did i ever claim they would pummel star players?
i didnt.. thats when.
they keep over exuberant kids.. and 3rd and 4th liners from picking on their top line guys
when it comes to top 6 pests the skill guys are on their own
its not black and white french.. as with most things it falls in the grey area. they arent there to police everyone.. just the bottom end guys. - Dozzer
I'm not sure how staged fights keep those kids in line. Orr has had 6 fights this year vs Parros (3)' Sestito, Erskine and Boulton. The bottom end guys play against each other. I'd rather have someone who can play on those lines. |

if the other player went too far someone like Orr would take the instigator to pummel the poop out of him... however this doesnt happen cause the rats of the league know this fact.
however, no orr.. no deterrent.
its the same concept as to why people dont drive 150kmph through a city.. its not that they dont want to its that they are afraid of having to face the circumstances |

Many didn't expect the series to make it to 5 games and I don't recall any game breakers sitting in the Leafs pressbox during the series. Orr had a role that was more than just dropping the gloves - that's the point I was trying to make. |

Because it only takes one team to start things up.
Buffalo got a bunch of tough guys after Ryan Miller was run over by Lucic.
Did Scott fight Lucic? Are the Sabres a better team for it? |

People do drive 150 kph through the city. People also murder, rape, steal and do all sorts of things they arent supposed to do. If Kessel gets a slewfoot and gets hurt, then Orr just pummels him, takes an instigator and a major and likely a suspension, while the other player just gets a couple bruises, thats a trade off most teams will take every time. |

dont get too excited.. the majority of the league has 2 or 3 games in hand on the leafs. - Dozzer
Teams that have games in hand. IF they win them ALL. Have 1 point on the Leafs.
I think that's exciting concidering 2 weeks ago we all we're ready to throw the team under the bus. |

I personally think you are putting WAY too much stock in this "intimidation factor".
If someone jumps Kessel, I would hope JVR, Bozak or the D would jump in to back him up. Not, "oh yea, Orr will get him next shift!"
I'd rather a team that stands up for eachother than a team of pussies with one big bad guy. AKA functional 4th line with grit as opposed to "in case of tough team, break glass for 2min a night and play these guys." |

Has Miller come that far out of his crease with Looch rushing at him since? It was a unique circumstance, but I have little doubt Lucic would do it again. I doubt Scott weighs much on his mind. |

if that was the case... you'd think every team would have gotten rid of their Orr's by now considering what Chicago has accomplished.
i would also say that yeah, the sabres are a better team when miller is worried about being run over.... |
