I'll say it again, Matthias is being wasted on the 4th line. See how he played lSt night replacing Barkov when he got injured? Unfortunately Barkov and Bjustad are our 1st and 2nd line centers

I wouldn't say it's unfortunate that they are. Barkov and Bjugstad are better players than Matthias hands down. Unfortunately Matthias was ruined a bit here. Having Goc as an ideal 3rd line center makes Matthias nothing more than a 4th liner right now. He'll get traded to a team that needs him. We don't unfortunately.

Well aren't we losing Goc after this year? So unless they get a good/great return for Matthias they can slot him in next year at 3C. I like the way he is playing, he just needs to get more of an opportunity...more minutes.

How great would it be to trade for Kane and then sign Callahan in the offseason.
Extend Kulikov and Gudbranson, add a few more complimentary pieces and all set.

Edit: I guess they need to figure out the goalie situation as well for next year. Resign Thomas? Sign Miller? Or is Markstrom going to step up finally?

Kulikov will be gone before this season is over. If not, off to the KHL he goes. Need another goaltender here next season. Marky isn't the answer. Will he ever be? I don't know. Ryan Miller just a few weeks ago said some very nice things about the area down here and our new owner. Plus, he has family in Stuart. I think that's interesting.

I see Tim Thomas being dealt. He's been a treat to watch, but even he'd probably tell you that he came here to grab a gig, and showcase his skills to all. Better trade him, because most likely he'll be somewhere else next year.

I know. That throws a wrench in that mini-playoff hope we grasp. Just how I see it.

Well if we finish this month winning and are in the race we won't trade him. Thomas has verbally stated that he would like to come back and play here, and I don't see that as a bad thing. Let him and Marky share the crease next season. Or bring in someone else.

Either way, goaltending is an area we are going to have to address.

We also have Trocheck, Grimaldi, etc.. in the wings. We will also make some sort of signing or trade I would guess because I don't think we would want to head into next season with Barkov, Bjugstad, and Shore as our top 3 centers. You want SOME experience. Spezza is rumored to be on the block.

EDIT: then again, maybe we could re-sign Gomez as our 4th line center. At least we have options.

Really? I don't remember hearing that he would like to come back to the panthers next season. If so that's great I would resign him in a heartbeat! I would like to think markstrom will be ready to ease into the starter the year after.

Would rather have Goc as our fourth line center. But I would be ok with Gomez since he fills in a nice leadership role.

Markstrom has been pretty inconsistent in the AHL this season and is hurt right now. Honestly, I like Rob Madore more than him. I was blown away by Madore in training camp.

The way Goc has played his price tag will go up a ton. Now that I think about it, we should re-sign Winchester for that spot. No brainer.

I would love to get Spezza and shore can also play on the wing if we retain Goc. We have tons of options.

Yes markstrom has been inconsistent, but so has that whole team down there no matter who is in net. Look at houser for example.

I still think it's way to early to give up on Markstrom. But one goalie I should be looking at to possibly make some noise in our system is Sam Brittain he is having a stellar season could maybe even push for a back up spot on the main team.

Any goalie worth his weight in the Hal doesn't stay in the Hal, mainly due to the inconsistently of rosters and lack of competitive activity. Good goalies get no better playing against guys who never get to the nhl

Andersen, Smith, Allen, Fasth... some of the goalies in recent years who have come up to the NHL and dominated. They all have a great skill set, similar to Markstrom. Markstrom does not know how to use his size. He plays too deep in the net. Quite frankly, I think his knee injury did something to his development.

I'm very excited to see Houser, Cowley and Brittain in the future. But unless Markstrom starts to show he's the guy, we need to move on. It's clear Tallon has no faith in him.

Gomez can't even consistently play on this team. It would make no sense to resign him when we got kids in the system and money to spend. Gomez is as good as gone. Same with Goc.

Maybe, maybe not. On the team or not, he is still a leader that the young kids look up to. I'm not sure if you attend practices as frequently as I do, but he is always talking to Bjugstad, Barkov, Huberdeau... teaching them the finer points of playing in the NHL. Sometimes, that is more important than playing on a constant basis. His cap hit barely exists, and he can always play should we have an injury. Goc I don't think we bring back.

It's sort of obvious when you them working together. Why are you always so mean? Mommy doesn't love you? Daddy touched you in your naughty place? I've been around the game long enough to know the difference between a casual conversation and a talk about positioning, face offs, etc..

Was kind of like during camp when Jovo took Gudbranson and Matheson aside on the ice to work a few drills with them. They weren't talking about the club they were going to that night. Be real.
