I think a lot of what they need to do now is assess just where some of these players are going to project to both next year and the year after that. I know it's the obvious statement, but it also has me wondering where others think players will permanently fill in, or where they need to fill in to be worth their spot.

Monahan and Backlund need to be the numbers 1 and 2. If they aren't (especially for Backlund) then it seems like a waste.

I would think that on Left wing Baertschi and Gaudreau need to fill these spots on the top two lines. I really like both players and am excited to see what they can do (especially Gaudreau) but them in the third or fourth line spots is pointless.

Then you fill the right side with Glencross and Hudler (although for the right return I will be willing to see Hudler moved).

I would think that the hope for Poirier is that he will be a top 6 right winger. The speed and the way he goes to the net compliments the guys I listed for center and left wing nicely.

Its the log jam in the third line roles that makes me wonder. Right now I see Colborne, Stajan, D. Jones, Galiardi, Reinhart, Knight, Granlund, Street, Ferland, Jankowski all in, or will be in, that level of the line-up. So something have to move. Yeah some may be the 4th line roll, but to me they would want these player do me more then the energy players.

The thing I like about Detroit from the Flames end is that it is also panning out that if they can get their 1st rounder, that (as it stands) it won't be really late in the round. Right now it would be the 13th over all. Makes me think it would be between there and 20th.

I'd eat half of Cammy's salary to get another 1st rounder in that range. if more can be worked in then even better.
