imagine my surprise when i find out there was no slashing call on the play in a game where the flyers are shorthanded 9 times. sounds about right
- hogweed

Yeah, definitely a missed call, but the Flyers weren't called for ticky tack, BS stuff.

I'd have probably put them out as well, but with their history that never had a chance.

Agreed, Hartley knew what Torts was going to do, and Torts stupidly obliged him. Start the Sedins and force Hartley to scramble and make a line change off the bat or face the best players I had with their goons on the ice.

if you say so, i didn't see the game. i watch a lot of hockey (we all do) and i just don't see other teams getting the calls the flyers do. i was watching the top 10 hits from last week on nhl network and the one was a check into the end boards from the side and i thought "penalty called on us every time for that one" usually from the official at center ice who has no view of the play

I didn't notice any that weren't legitimate, myself. The Flyers took a lot of dumb ones

Flyers are just the definition of average. From the top of the organization on down.

Just nothing special going on. Not a whole lot to look forward to. Status quo for now and the foreseeable future

and just yesterday a few folks in here were carrying on about how healthy they are. they were warned and scolded for saying such things, for surely it would release the injury kraken. low and behold. it's all too shocking.

the whole things is (frank)ing pathetic. and really....torts "had no choice" but to start his 4th line? really. ridiculous. even so, they didn't have to fight. bieksa, a dman, didn't have to move into the circle and change places with the center. whatever...i'm just glad it didn't involve the flyers.

So you start your super stars against their goons....?
- ob18

No
I have no problem with how Tortorella responded in regards to his lineup, I have a problem with what he did at the end of the period. And apparently the NHL does as well.

That would have been smarter though I would have put at least one goon on the ice with the Sedins just in case someone did jump one of them

Win the majority of your home games, split on the road.

So, to me, this was a successful back-to-back, though you hate to give up the two-goal lead in the third. But it's been obvious that they Islanders overall skill and speed has really been a problem for the the Flyers, so I wasn't surprised. Kyle Okposo was a man possessed the last two games.

The point they did get truly matters, though -- there's a little bit, not a ton, but a little bit of breathing room for them.

Carolina has been a bit of a pain for them, as well; guess we'll see how Steve Mason plays, who might come out of the lineup, tomorrow.

- AllInForFlyers

When Hall speared Okposo in the nuts last game and no call was made he went ape poop.
I guess he channels his anger productively.
