so the Carey Price comparison was nothing
the fourth period is putting Meszaros on the block,

I think his value has definitely gone up. If Homer has no intention on bringing him back next season, getting something for him makes sense.

Somewhat similar to Cory Schneider's deal right? I think Mason is much better than Schneider.
- PLindbergh31

Really?

I prefer having Mason and Morin to trading for Schneider, but Schneider is as good as Mase if not better.

Just based on comparables, his cap hit is right on target... maybe even a little low considering he signed in an environment of an increasing cap.

I've given Homer a lot of poop about his contract negotiating skills, but this one is right up there with Giroux's 2nd-contract in how smart it was.

I would agree. I don't see how anyone could be against it.

Schneider's also been on much better teams.

Switched over to NJ, quality of D is night and day, virtually no goal support, and still not a hint of drop-off to his game.

I think they are comparable. Schneider has never been the # 1 guy in his career yet.

It's an absolutely perfect deal, I honestly have no clue how anyone could diss this
3 years is an absolutely perfect length, and he'll be the 18th-19th highest payed goalie in the league.
It's a fantastic deal, I'm ecstatic, Homer finally made a great contract

Couts' deal was freaking awesome too. Hope he can get Schenn at the same term, 3 years 4M/yr

schneider > mason

schneider hasn't been a #1 because he's played behind elite goalies in luongo and now a hall of famer in brodeur, although he's kind of taken the starting job in Jersey i believe.

mason got the starting job in philly because you had no other options.

That works. Restock the cupboard. And Mason is now taking over Mesz's cap hit next season.

Yeah, it's got nothing to do with how well Mason has been playing, even with a somewhat suspect D in front of him.

This is Jersey we're talking about, lowest average shots against per game, ahead of teams like St Louis, Chicago, LA and Anaheim.

Good extension, for sure. People who are saying it's too much have unrealistic expectations.

Mason got the starting job in Philly because he's done a tremendous job. Even on his "off" nights, he's given the team a chance to win.
